In current production brass, Lapua makes 6BR (Norma) that will work. It has the small flash hole and a .015" neck thickness. I use it for my 22 BR and turn the necks to .010"
About 7 years ago, someone traded in a custom 6BR rifle on a sleeved 40x action along with a full case of Remington unformed BR brass (green and orange box). The forming brass was of the run without a flash hole. A friend of mine bought both the rifle and brass, and made a deal to have all the brass drilled on a lathe. The rifle had a 1:10 twist and was loaded with 105/6 Berger Hybrid bullets It won several long range matches and the barrel was retired at approximately 4000 shots! and replaced with a Criterion 6BR 1:10. The retired 6BR Remington barrel sat in the corner for about a year and a half, Then on a stormy Saturday afternoon, my friend got a brainstorm of an idea... ream the chamber by hand to 243 Winchester (that is 1/2" of hand reaming!). He put the barrel back on the sleeved 40x action and loaded up 50 brass made from Lapua 308 Palma brass (Match brass with a small primer and PPC/BR size flash hole). Off to Reiner's range on Sunday afternoon. (1 1/2 hours each way!) After zeroing at 200 yards, he went to the 600 yard station and set his scope, not on the gong but, on the crossbar holding the gong! He sent me a close-up text photo of the group, three craters, stacked on top of each other!
This didn't have a lot to do with your brass question, but a fond memory of a departed friend and veteran!
RIP this Memorial Day, Jim Elk, 5th Special Forces Group!
