I tested a 686 6" with Magnum and 38 +P loads with both the
JHP bullets and a 158gr Lswc in both size cases.
You must have missed it......
It was posted on 6/6, using just BE86 powder.
I also included a 38 with the 148gr BBwc that is not listed by Alliant data.

Alliant is your best source, unless you want to believe some anonymous person on the 'web (like me!).
If I had NOTHING else to go on, I would drop the jacketed start load by 1.5gn and work up.
OK, checked Alliant internet site—
Alliant Powder - Reloader's Guide
—and it shows 158gn jacketed bullets at 7.8gn MAX and 158gn L-RNFP at 8.1gn MAX, where jacketed start would be 6.9gn and lead start would be 7.2gn. I would start at 7.0gn myself.

Interesting also that I noticed Alliant adds data from time to time for this new-er powder. A few months ago they had no data for a 9mm lrn with BE-86 but I checked back a few months later and they had added it.

In a pinch reduce jacketed start data for commercial bullets that appear to have the same lube by 5%. In my cast bullets with my allow and lube I can exceed jacketed data with my cast as it has less resistance. Do not do this with swedged bullets or unknown hardness, tensile strength, ductility and lubes.

The Alliant web site has a contact tab that I have used a couple of times for reloading data not listed in their current manual. They have always responded promptly to my requests for information.
A few days ago I asked for information on .44 Special loads using BE-86 with a 240 grain cast SWC and a 180 grain JHP. I received an answer the next day with the below information.
Both data was listed using Federal cases and Federal 150 primers. While the 240 grain bullet listed was not a SWC it still provides a valid data point.
180 gr JHP (Speer/Fed): COL 1.440, 8.1 grains (max), 1020 FPS.
240 RNFP (Desperado): COL 1.450, 6.7 grains (max), 848 FPS.
Give them a try, they should be able to help you out with your .38 loads.

The data you are showing is from 357 Mag, not 38 sp+p as OP stated. 38 shows 4.6 max with 158 lrnfp. And 38 sp +p of 5.7 for 158 jhp swc.

Disappointed that Alliant didn't list BE lead 38 Spl +P loads for it...my feeling is that perhaps Power Pistol surpasses it in that application.
