Looks like the rails for the shelf stays pulled out of the wall.
Might try to find the wall studs next time.

My dad taught me to look at the bright side of all things;in your case,I'd use the opportunity to look for what's missing when I put everything back in place and put it on my ''what's next to buy''list.

The upside to that event is that you're probably gonna find a few things that you been trying to find for along time..and bought one or two since to replace them. Been there a couple times

On the safety side I was glad to see an Elec water heater. I have seen too many gas flame rollouts to want one in a reloading area.

Sorry to see that. My heart just sank when I saw the picture because I know what a mess it is going to be to move it all out, sort it out, rebuild the shelves and then put everything back. Hopefully you didn't lose anything (like primers coming out of containers) so that it is just a matter of moving stuff around.

I'm impressed my bench is holding up. These are only bullets though and I have started another storage area for more.

I saved that, Fish. That just about sums up reloading in a nutshell. Between the guns I never would have bought, to the mass of ammo I now shoot, I am so deep in the hole it's not even funny.

Seeing Fishslayer's picture and Nevada Ed's, I was reminded of moving 2 1/2 years ago! I used a bedroom in the farmhouse. If it wasn't for the strong 1870's construction, that room probably would have ended in the basement!
I ended up using very heavy duty steel framed shelves with 3/4" plywood shelving. The cast bullet stockpile is on the bottom shelf. The shelf itself is supported by 10 2x6 ribs directly on the floor. There are about 30,000 45 bullets and 5,000 44's plus the 45-70 monsters. The second shelf is for jacketed bullets, It work fine for the quantities there.
The "Home Center" shelves I had at the farmhouse went to the dump when emptied, they were so abused, I couldn't give them away! The "Guaranteed 500 pound per shelf" sets went to the wife's sewing room. All that sewing stuff is heavy, just ask any of the ladies! But it ain't nothing' compared to bullets and cans of ammo!
Ivan
By the way, At 2 1/2 years, I've almost unpacked all the reloading stuff, just 2 or 3 crates left!
She said moving would simplify our lives!

The thread's title had me prepared for something much worse but having been there and done that, not so.
Our old condo had a closet the entire length of one wall in the bedroom I used as a gun room and office. I had a whole lot more stuff than that on the white metal rod-type shelving that comes in newer homes for four years when one night, we heard a god-awful noise from that room. I cautiously entered but saw nothing until I opened the closet doors. Magnify your mess by about four and you have an idea of what I saw.
I replaced that shelving with heavy-duty brackets on 16" centers and 2x8 boards.

Loaded ammo on the floor, bullets on the lowest shelf, and don't put anything near the front edge of the shelves.

I will go get the mop and bucket and drop by Home Depot's lumber dept. tomorrow and maybe get some "I beams" from Martin Iron, to beef up the problem.
Get that frigging washer and dryer, out of here !!
Got to love it.........

I think you could stack several of these on top of each other
Martin Iron stackables don't think they got these at Home Depot
save the top for a bunk!

When tossing random boxes of bullets on the shelves we rarely consider the quantitative amounts. Build of buy beefy shelving as required :

I too have way too much powder in the house, but I keep the 65000 primers in the dethatched garage. In my F-I-L's house fire, the powder was just more fire. The cases of primers were very interesting! He only had about 25000!

Sorry for your misfortune. If you were a woman, you just cry for a while. As a manly man you must cuss, swear and kick something to break a toe.
A couple years ago, I walked into my loading room and discovered that my loaded ammo overloaded some of that Rubbermaid plastic shelving. The whole deal collapsed in a heap. Went to Fleet Farm and bought all steel shelving.
I'm sure you'll get some benefit out of fixing your mess too.

You know, the more I think about it...................
Naw.
That box of brass was on the floor.
Great stuff by the way. Thanks again.
Some how I came up short one shelf, room wise with the new set up.
However, I just tossed a lot of stuff out of the shelf area above the dryer.
I don't think the little wife knows about it yet.
I mean, how much soap, static clean etc. does a woman need to do clothes ??

hurts just to look at that disaster. 30 yrs of tid bits tucked in what a shame. been there done that. on the bright side the upgrades and reorg ideas now have a starting point.
words of wisdom to share. when you scoop up the heaps and try to separate them take your time. later recheck the piles again. anything not readily identifiable get thrown out not saved. it will save you lots of headache. know how I know this?
