I have been loading AA#7 loads for my one and only 40S&W pistol for as long as I first discovered that the 4lb. jug of AA#9 powder I bought was really AA#7. I have had zero issues with using it in my full size Sig pistol. I don't shoot it much since I don't carry the gun and it is very accurate with the loads I use. I tried a box of the loads in my new Shield 40 and after about 10 to 12 rounds fired the next rounds start to not chamber fully. It seems that the chamber becomes so fouled with carbon the rounds will not go in the chamber. After I take the barrel out and run a brush in the chamber. The next 10 to 12 rounds chamber perfectly. I decided to try different loads using various powders and don't have the problem. Any one else using AA#7 in their Shields? BTW it is the same with jacketed bullets and cast.
It should work just fine. I don't load .40, but do load the 147 gr 9mm with AA#7, and it is very accurate and less recoil than AA#5 or other powders in that burning range.
