Default 38-44 Handloader Magazine Load - Nice

I worked up a nice 38-44 load using Handloader (Oct 2016) data using Keith 358429 bullet, Power Pistol and CCI500 primers. I tested the load in a Ruger Blackhawk 4 5/8 inch revolver. The load I settled on was not only accurate, but chronographed at approx. 1,000 fps (993 fps avg) It is not the max. load in Handloader for this bullet and powder combination, but was the most accurate in my Ruger.

I use this load only in my Ruger. I found that the 358429 performs better at +P through 38-44 levels. Great working load with adequate power and accuracy for my shooting pleasure.

I believe the ...429 bullet was a favorite bullet used by Skeeter
in a lot of his loadings with the 357 magnum.

Way back when I had get luck with the old Speer 160gr but it
has long gone into the dust of history.

Better stock up, just in case...........
I hate it when components are discontinued.

Most of Skeeter's writings on the .38 Spl. and the .357 noted his penchant for the #156 and the #446.

The 429 is good for hunting small to medium size game, and shoots quite accurate when the sweet spot is found for the powder and crimp size.
