x-treme 9mm steel casings with brass wash.
I've been finding these at the range. They are not stepped inside
like the Freedom Munitions ones that are known for separation.
I've sized and decapped some and that process was just like regular
9mm. Haven't loaded any but was curious if they have been reloaded by anyone.
All the google stuff I can find basically talks about the stepped
variety and why to stay away from them.
Any input on this?

Good quality, once-fired brass 9mm brass with the same headstamp is readily available very cheaply from many sources. In fact, it may be the cheapest brass there is on today's market. I've had no experience with steel 9mm cases; maybe they are as good as brass cases, but surely they aren't better.

I never reloaded steel 9mm but have reloaded steel 45 ACP cases. With each reloading they became harder to extract. After about five reloads I had to pound the ejector rod on a desktop to remove them from the gun.
Case life was short too. At five reloads 50% had cracked.

The stepped 9mm brass is dangerous because of reduced case capacity. Reloading steel cases can be done (I've reloaded some 45 ACP cases, just out of curiosity), but with 9mm brass everywhere, cheap and often free, there is no need to reload steel cases. As notes many times the steel case life is very short as compared to brass cases and may even damage guns with splits, ruptures, etc., perhaps gas damage to chambers and bolt faces(?).

I've reloaded Wolf and Tula 45 and 223 steel cases and they really aren't worth the trouble. I can get brass 223, 9mm, and 45acp for free at the range. It is so plentiful alot of people just let it lay there.

I would just toss 'em. No real reason to scrounge steel cases when brass is readily available.
