Default Loading .45 Super

Can this load be accomplished in Starline auto rim brass? For those of you loading this round what is your preferred load? BLUEDOT where are you buddy? I plan to launch these from a 22-4.

Yes, the auto rim brass is plenty strong

I load the Winchester 230 JHPs or the 230 Gold Dots over 9.5 grains of Power Pistol. That is in 45 SUPER brass

I'm here!

Like colt_saa said, Starline's 45 Auto Rim brass are every bit as strong, or stronger, as Starline 45 Super brass. I use the same Super handloads in both.

From Starlines website:

The .45 Auto Rim has an extra thick rim that allows it to be used without a moon clip in revolvers designed for .45 Auto/moon clip combination. It is built with the same integrity as our 45 Colt case.

- and -

Our .45 Colt brass has been tested to .44 Magnum pressures in gun systems suitable for such loads.

.

That'll work.

.

I've measured the following Starline case capacities as:

45ACP @ 27.3 grs,
45AR @ 27.4grs, &
45 Super @ 26.8grs.

So the ACP & AR are essentially the same & the Super case has about 0.5grs., or 2% less capacity.

45AR loads in a revolver don't have the COAL" restrictions typically found in semi-auto pistols loads. I load my 185gr JHP 45ARs out to 1.255" but am restricted to 1.220" in my 4586 & 1.200" in my 1911

.
