Looking for Bullseye recipe for Berry's 185 gr FP .45
Been all over the internet and getting a lot of conflicting data. I am looking for a Alliant Bullseye recipe to load Berry's plated .45 185 grain, flat point bullets. Plinker loads in my 625PC. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest a Lyman load manual. There are different versions of 185 flat point bullets but you may be able to find a duplicate or something very close in the Lyman book to get you started. Just begin with a low, safe charge.
You might call the manufacturer; they may have suggestions. The Internet is not a good place to find reliable data unless you can fairly well recognize a dangerous load.

I loaded 4.0gr of BE under the Berry's Plated 185gr Hollow Base bullet in Starline 45AR cases for shooting paper targets with a 625-2.
I worked up from a starting load of 3.5gr of BE.
Berry's makes very good quality pllated and lead bullets but a bit pricey if you shoot a lot of rounds at paper targets.
Try the 45cal .452" 200gr hard cast SWC from Summers Enterprises @ $30/500 if you want a vg bullet at a great price.

I've had great luck with 4.2 grains of Bullseye pushing a 185 grain Xtreme plated flat nose bullet for my .45 ACP 1911s. I don't have a .45 ACP revolver but this load shouldn't cause any problems.

Bullseye
with out going downstairs I like to say 4.2 gr BE sounds right.
My go to loads for 185 cast SWC are
between 4.7 and 5.4 gr. of W231 (6 gr. max charge)
and
between 4.2 and 4.7 gr. Bullseye (5.5 gr. max charge)
according to Lyman
Those work tremendously well for my .454 sized SWC in the 25-2 with large throats.
Berry's plated will behave very similar to a cast SWC, slightly soft and slightly oversized.

Anything from 4 to 6 should work well. You'd be able to go lower or higher depending on what you're looking, but higher charges will be more punishing on the wrist and lighter charges will be dirty.

Go to the Alliant website and click on the link to contact them. You will need to contact them directly because most Bullseye loads have been replaced with the new Sport Pistol offering, but if you send them the specifics on the bullet you are shooting they will give you the old recipes.
Alliant typically provides a maximum load, so proper load development dictates backing off that by 10% and starting from there going up by 0.1 or 0.2 grains at a time until you reach a load that operates your pistol, is accurate and doesn't show evidence of excessive pressure.
Remember, just because 4.5 grains works well for someone else doesn't mean it is where you should start. It's referred to as "starting load" for a reason.

These shot great, I loaded up 20 with 4.0 grains of Bullseye. They leave a wadcutter type hole, grouped up nicely. Thanks again.

Hi, if memory serves, Berry's and Rainers should be loaded like Lead, not like jacketed rounds. Interestingly, 4.0 bullseye is what goes in my 185 grain LSWC 45 ACP loads. Good to know it works.
Later y'all

Berry's FAQ
Question: Do you have load data available?
We do not research or publish the load data. Please consult load data books or your powder manufacturers' website for load information. You can use published load data for lead/cast bullets or low to mid-range FMJ data, as long as it is the same weight bullet. Berry's offers our standard plate bullets which can handle velocities up to 1,250 fps and 1,500 fps for our Thick Plate (TP) versions.

I only shoot 185 xtp / 185 zero jhp in 45 acp.
Bullseye always printed the best groups when using 5.0 grains
That is with zero and xtp 185's.
If you like shooting 185g bullets get yourself some wst powder. This is ridiculously accurate under 185's. Not to mention recoils like a 22 magnum.
I've tested tons of powder combinations under 185's
WST is best for target and Accurate 2 is best for faster loads
At least that's the way it seems after extensive ransom rest testing.
