Default My Positive Experience with a new cast bullet source!

Hello all,

Just wanted to post some info about my recent very positive experience with a
new (new to me) cast bullet source. I recently placed a significant bullet order
with Paul Smith at K&D Cartridge and Supply kdcartridge (302)-731-9294.
He was kind enough to send me a few design samples first so I could decide what
I really wanted.

My order was 8000 bullets of 4 different designs including the following designs:

9mm 147 FP
38 158 RFN
44 240 RFN
45 230 TC

The shipping was lightening fast, and I have never in my life seen such a
phenominal job at packing the bullets. They arrived in perfect condition w/o
being beat up or damaged in any way. I have ordered in the past from many
suppliers and never seen this level of quality in packaging and packing for
shipment.

The bullets themselves are of excellent quality, filled out nicely and SO
MUCH nicer than the typical machine cast stuff I have tried from different
suppliers. I hand cast myself (when I can get the time) and he must be using
hand casting to reach this level of quality.

If you need some cast bullets, I urge you to take a look at his offerings. I felt
like his pricing was fair and the quaity is there for sure. I haven't been this
impressed with anything before without casting them myself!

I will try to post a few pics in the next day or so.

Nice testimonial. And always nice to hear about someone who obviously takes pride in his/her work.

Very good prices for cast bullets.

I usually order from Summers Enterprises but I see a few bullet types and weights I'd like to try that Summers don't offer.

Below photo shows a Summers 44cal 240gr SWC @ $35/500 next to a 240gr SWC from Xtreme @ $64/500

X-treme has the darker lube

Secure packaging is important to me. Bullets are heavy and the Post Office is rough with them.

I saw my letter carrier just drop one of my deliveries from waist level. And just walk away.

My camera skills aren't great, but I added a few pics. Note that these don't have nearly the severe bevel base that the Magma machine cast designs typically have. They also in general have larger meplats than the Magma designs.

Thanks for sharing the images and good experience. These look very nice. I wish they had a 148gr Hollow Base WC.
Looks like they need a little more info as far as pics on their website and it is nearing completion.

This is to stackout, I also use Summers enterprizes bullets. Very good quality but they don't offer some of the bullets I need like .357 swc. I'll look at the OP listing

I asked Summers why no 38/357 158gr SWC and he replied that the 158gr flat nose is very popular because it works well in rifles and pistols.

I think I'll try the 208gr 44cal wadcutter from K&D cartridge from the OP's link in 44mag cases with 5.0gr of BE and 8.5gr of Unique.

I bought 1000 158gr SWC at the Austin show last weekend so I'm good now till Black Friday.

Thanks for the tip. Checked out the website and saw a lot to like. I especially like the amount of customization (different alloys, sizing to your firearm, etc.). This is hard to get from a lot of the other casters at times. Prices are great too!

I like the fact that many of their bigger bullets have flat or nearly flat bases.
I am SOOO tired of the the excessive bevel on the base of most SWC bullets.
Totally unnecessary.
Poor Ol' Elmer has been rolling in his grave since before he died over this issue!
(Just read a rant of his about this in "Gun Notes Vol 2.")

Thanks for the tip!
I can see they just went online with their website.
Now if they start offering coated bullets I'll be all over that.
Especially heavy for caliber ones.

Thanks for the heads up.

I am starting to mentor a friend, he wants to load for 45 Colt. I see that KD sells in smaller quantities, and can jigger the alloy some.

I'll contact them in a day or so.
