Default Shooters World Clean Shot?

Anyone run this powder yet? I bought 2 lbs when Midsouth was running a free Hazmat if you ordered 2 lbs of it a few weeks ago. I read at Midsouth that it is canister grade Lovex D032-03 and is very similar to Accurate #2. I just got back from the rig today and opened a can to look at it and it even looks like Accurate #2. Also, the 9MM load data shown on the can for a 115 grain FMJ bullet has the same exact max powder wt as Accurate #2 as shown by the Western Load Guide.

If I am not mistaken, at some time in the past, Accurate Arms bought powder from Explosia before Western acquired them from what I have read on the net.

I plan to load some rounds up with it and some A #2 at the same charge weight and bullets and run them both over a chrony to see how close they perform in ft/sec.

Any other experience with this powder, please post up.

Perform the same as AA#2 in my .380's. Data is exactly the same as Accurate Arms.

Be careful with load data on unknown burn rate powders is my experience. I bought 8lbs CSB1 from American Reloading in 2014 who published Universal data. Turns out, as illustrated by Nemo here on the forum, that CSB1 is about 15% more energetic than Universal. It is tough to be faster than Accurate #2, go on the easy and pay attention.

That being said, CSB1 is one of the best powders I ever used. I hope this stuff works as well for you.

Yeah, SLT223, that's why I was posting up to see if anyone else has much experience with it. And why I will be checking it out and comparing it against A #2 with a chrony to see how it compares against it as far as velocity is concerned. Shooters World does have written data on it, downloadable from their website (as linked by rg1 above) and from what I've seen of the data so far it looks directly comparable to the Western downloadable data on A #2. I'll try 9 MM first, then maybe try it in 38 Special and 380 Auto.

I haven't tried that powder yet, but I'm loving Auto Pistol and Ultimate Pistol. I've never used a powder that meters this consistently.

I loaded about 100 9mm with that powder. Seems like I was just under middle of advertised data. 115 grain bullet shot really nice in a full
Sized M&P. Light recoil and dropped all brass in a pile. I’ve got some 45s loaded now but haven’t got to try them yet.

I tried Cleanshot in .45 acp and .40 S&W.
Has potential in the .45 acp (230 gr lead) but my 3rd gen S&W in .40 S&W didn't like it.
I have not tried it in 9mm.

So far I haven't had a chance to load anything with it to give it a try yet. We came up to north Alabama to visit with my daughter and son-in-law for the holidays. Hopefully when we get home I will get a chance to give it a go and load up around 50 or so of A #2 and Clean Shot with the same powder charge and run them across the chrono and see how they feel and compare. If it performs like the AA #2 I used to load in the 90's, it will perform well in 9 MM though. From what I remember from back then, the AA #2 was imported from overseas and not made by St Marks like the present A #2.

I finally got home yesterday and I loaded up 50 rounds of each (Accurate #2 and Clean Shot. The load is as follows I will be trying out.

Cases, various range pickup
Primer - CCI 500
Bullet - Zero 147 grain JHP
Powder charge - 3.6 grains on both powders

I also put a case full of each powder on a piece of paper and took a few pics of it with my cell phone. The color of both powders is remarkably close, but the Clean Shot is just a tad coarser than the A #2. I uploaded a pic at full resolution on Postimage if you want to see how the 2 powders look like next to each other. If the weather clears enough, I'll try to get out to the range and shoot them across a chrono and see how they compare.

Since the name is "Clean Shot"..........

even if it is almost the same type of powder.........
are the inside and outside of the cases any cleaner than the brand "B" ?

Not that it really matters, since I go for accuracy in a powder and let the chips fall with how clean the case is, since they will get cleaned up sooner or later.

It might help if the price was a little lower but then again if it shot better..............?

Decisions, decisions.

@ muddocktor ...Still wondering how those loads performed... in today’s climate, my reload shop has limited availability of products.... I was able to pick up 147 gr hi-tek coated rn bullets but they had no Unique or Power Pistol.... so I picked up Clean Shot.... and can’t find alot of data on reloading the 147’s using the Clean Shot....
