I loaded up 450 45 Auto this evening. 250 with Zero 230 grain FMJ and 6.8 grains of Shooters World Ultimate Pistol and 200 with the same bullets and 9.0 grains of Shooters World Auto Pistol. All with CCI 300 primers.

The 6.8 load of Ultimate Pistol gives me right under 900 ft/sec out of my 5" barrel 1911.
The 9.0 load of Auto Pistol is a bit of an experiment. I've loaded it at 8.5 grains in the past which yielded a little over 900 ft/sec so I wanted to see what a load closer to the max load shown by SW's data would go at.

I have had a series of crises and so haven't been reloading or shooting for far too long, but last week I finally had time to load a bit. I recently got a Rossi 44 mag lever action, so loaded up a couple of hundred rounds with my current standard 44 practice load - 7.0 gr Trail Boss under a 180gr coated LRN. I have been experimenting with 10gr Universal loads in my 44, so I loaded some of them as well. They are fairly low power compared to max 44 magnum loads, but will still launch a 180gr bullet at ~1300fps, which IMO is plenty for use in my CCW M629 Deluxe.

I also am experimenting with a .32 Long load for my newly acquired M30 snubnose. I've loaded up six rounds each of 100gr coated LSWC over 2.7, 3.0, and 3.3gr of both Universal and Herco. First of all, those are hot by modern standards, starting at book max. But from all my research, 32 Long recipes are incredibly anemic because they don't want to blow up ancient break apart H&Rs. I've seen folks post much hotter recipes so I'm not too worried about it, and my older reloading manuals show up to 4.3gr of Unique (which is a lot!), but I do plan to shoot them in my LCR327 first to check for signs of overpressure, then if they look okay I'll load up some more to shoot thru my M30. I'm not trying to turn the gun into a magnum, but I'd like to find a fairly hot load for use as a CCW. The M30 is a bit smaller than the LCR, which makes it a bit better as a pocket pistol.

I also loaded up about 200 more .32 Long rounds of 2gr of Trail Boss under that 100gr LSWC. Those are strictly for fun.

Lastly, I finally got a chrono so I get to be a bit more scientific with my loads, which I'm excited about.

About 1600+ 223 for plinking (all brass I've had ). Single session, all brass has been prepped beforehand. Had one stoppage on my 650 - primer wasn't feeding. Disassembled primer feed and glad I did; there was 1 primer stuck half way due to junk accumulated. If I'd decided to "persuade" it it'd probably got sheered and might have detonated whole tube which was just refilled

Just finished about 350 .40 S&W with 175 SWC. Now ready for about 300 more with 180 gr FMJ's. Prepping some .45-70 cases for my Browning 1885. Then on to some .357's with Starline brass to use up some odd bullet weights that I never really needed in the first place. There's something to be said about sticking with the basics.

Well I did two load work ups today. Made a .44 special load using 240 LSWCHP on top of 8.7 grains of N350 with an average of 920fps out of my 629. And I did a .38 special load for my 36 that pushes a 158 grain LSWCHP at 850fps using 6.3 grains of N350. Out of my 6in 66 I was getting an average of 1020fps with the same load.

I loaded up some 303 British ammo today. I used a 174gr bullet and BL-C(2), now to see how well they shoot in the old girl.

I loaded four 2.2 liter coffee pots with my own blend of coffee (robust blend but with low acid) and took them to church - it was Sunday, after all.

The 9mm will come on Tuesday. 115 gr JHP over 5.5 grain of Hi-Skor 800X.

Thumbs up Well, so far nothing, but...

Yesterday I ran my third load of mixed (9mm, 40S&W & 357SIG) brass through my new Thumler's, Lemi-Shine & 4 drops of DAWN... WONDERFUL!

On my way over to the "shop" to load up my (now) favorite 357SIG practice load: 124gr RAINIER hp with 7.5gr of UNIQUE @ 1.140"

Cheers!

I try to avoid tumbling cases with different case mouth diameter together - often cases get "stuck" together locked with few pins between the walls. Sometimes they get stuck even with cases of "next" size like 9mm and 45 ACP.

It is just an(other) opportunity for me to further cull the SS pins that somehow are the exact length to get stuck in those small primer pockets...

Actually, the 40S&W can fit in the 45acp's, the 9mm in the 40's: the worst ever was a 40 stuck rim-first in a 44magnum... I had to cut that entire combination in half with a Dremel and there were no SS pins causing the jam when all was said & done!

I actually primed a couple hundred 222 cases that my daughter has been using to shoot the darn PDs here at the ranch. Guess I am gonna have to take over that chore as she just went back east to visit the family there for a couple weeks. I have been using my CZ in 204 to take care of a few.

That's exactly the reason I avoid tumbling mixed calibers; also when I did and had cases stuck together - kinetic bullet puller solved problems every time w/o destroying cases

100 rounds .45 ACP

Winchester brass
Tula LPP's
Hornady 185 grain FMJ wadcutters
4.3 grains VV N310 powder

This is the so-called Marine load, but I'll bet they didn't use Russian primers (and I won't after these are gone).

I did 100 rounds of .380 Unique 20 rounds 3gr ,20 of 2.8, 20 of 2.6 etc, you get the idea.
Running 95 gr FMJFP for a CZ83 that I realized had to use FMJ rather than plated or lead because of the polygonal rifling .
The CZ 83 is a good little gun and with FMJ it shoots to POA at 25 yards and further . So yeah !

Unique is a riot. I think after I shoot up this 4 lb keg , that will be the end for me and Unique , its like a time machine backward 100 years. Unburnt particles everywhere , a funky smell, I guess thats the unique part, but good accuracy.
The lighter loads (2.3gr) had trouble ejecting the spent cases in my Makarov and CZ 83 , but the 2.8gr -3gr loads did great at 25 yards and were fun to shoot. So I'll be doing a few hundred at 2.9 gr over the next couple of days and see how that goes.

Well 3.1gr of titegroup gave me the most closest performance to duplicating factory Hornady Custom 380 loads. Est. 1050fps which is right on par.

According to my Hornady 9th edition manual 3.4gr is the max for Titegroup with a Est. 1100fps... But I wouldn't shoot that thru a micro poly gun. A Bersa thunder or similar probably, but not a micro pocket gun lol.

Over the last week I loaded 400 38Spl using hard cast 160g lyman bullets over 4.5g W231.

Another 200 or so of 357 using the same bullet over 15.5g W296.

100 44Spl using 250g hard cast over 6.5g W231 (Snapper load) and another 50 using 7.5g Unique for the Skeeter load.

Now, for the near future, I need to load up a couple hundred 44mags. I'll use a 250 hard cast SWC bullet over 22g W296.

Then I will cast up a whole bunch of 410g 480's and load them up to both magnum and special levels.

Then I'll go for the 45-70 by casting and then loading up 420gRNFP and loading them to both 1200 & 1800fps.

45 colt, need to make a bunch of 255gRNFP's and load up a couple hundred.

300 Blackout tonight. I am relatively new to this caliber. I recently got a great deal on a new Rock River Arms AR15 in this caliber with a medium heavy 16" barrel and free float handguard. I put a 4.5-14x Leupold mil dot scope on it and started loading ammo.

The brass is shortend .223 Rem/.556 NATO brass necked to 30 caliber. I have used Sierra and Hornady jacketed bullets in weights from 110 to 220 grains, some with great accuracy. I have also used some surplus 150 grain FMJ bullets that shot well.

I have played around with some sub-sonic loads.

Now I have started casting 230 grain bullets for it from a Lee mold, and then powder coating (which is totally new for me). I tried 5 last night in my basement and they cycled the rifle fine, at approximately 1000 fps. I hope to try them at longer range soon.

My powder coating was not as smooth as I wanted, and I baked it too long, but I think they will still work. Also pictured are some loads with 125 gr Sierra bullets.

I finished up a loading project today- 100 rounds of 10mm Auto. In 2016, I bought myself a Colt Delta Elite for my birthday. I've shot it a bunch, but this is the first ammo I've loaded for it. I loaded 50 with Berry's plated 180 grain target hollow point, and 50 with Hornady XTP. I used once-fired Sig cases, and enough 800x for about 1100 fps. If the results are positive, there will be a range report.

Trying to develop an accurate load for my .223 bolt action, so that’s what I loaded.

Default 44 mag

Just loaded 300 44 mags with a 240 swc in front of 8.9 grs of Power Pistol. I believe that is a Brian Pierce load. Works well accurate and easy to shoot. Velocity around 1100 fps.

I love 44 magnum rounds in that range. They are spicy enough to be fun and whack a steel target, but not miserable to shoot. I run a similar load with 9.5gr of Universal under both a 240gr and 180gr LSWC.

And of course Alliant doesn't currently offer any load data for 240gr and Power Pistol...

100 rounds of .45 Colt with 5.7 grains Tightgroup under a 230 gn LRN bullet.

It's for use in my new Uberti 1866 "yellowboy" rifle. I will have to run the noses of the bullets agains the wheel of my grinder to give them a flat point before I can load them into he tubular magazine (also somehow improves the accuracy of these bullets).

Make that 200 round :-). Hd another spare hour so went back out to the man cave to load up the rest of my cases.

Thumbs up 38 Short Colt

I just finished loading 604 rounds of 38 Short colt. I shoot this caliber in USPSA matches with my 627 8-shot revolvers. The recipe was new Starline brass, 160gr. Bayou Bullets long nose sized .358", 3.0gr Vihtavouri N 310 over Federal small pistol primers. COL is 1.16". These rounds in 8-shot moonclips load and extract very easily making competitive revolver shooting fun.

I've been loading 38 Short Colt since 2008 and it's an amazing round. There is virtually no loading data for the round but once you realize the cartridge is virtually a dead-ringer for 9x19mm ammo there is all the load data you can dream of.

Custom moonclips can be purchased that fit this Starline brass snugly and eliminates cartridge wobble when reloading on the fly.

Very cool!

Where do you get the custom moonclips? I've been thinking about getting my 629 cut for moonclips and shooting 44 Russian just to play around with it.

45 ACP: 185 gr Nosler JHP, 5.1 gr 231.

I hear that the Nosler bullet is extremely accurate. If so, it's going to replace the 200 gr LSWC in my go-to Bullseye load. N310 is supposed to be a great powder choice, but alas, I don't have any on the shelf. So I'll see what happens with 231.

TK Custom; they're on the internet. Their whole business is milling cylinders for moonclips and providing moonclips for the gun. The clips can be used or not at your discretion. All you have to do is send them the cylinder.

Default Case Preparation time only.

Well I have actually loaded very little this last week, but I have managed to complete a great deal of case preparation for shooting over the next 3 months or so.

Last weekend, between shifts, I deprimed/resized 400 .38 special cases before hand priming them. I also managed to deprime and size 50 9mm cases for testing a load (50 for target shooting and 5 for the chrono) in my Tanfoglio CZ clone.

Yesterday, my first of three days off, I hit the range in the morning shooting off 126 of my last 150 .38 special loads. On getting home I put the cases, along with my last 50 fired cases, in the tumbler. I then loaded the 55 9mm cases on the bench before depriming/resizing another 600 9mm cases for a competition first weekend in September. I then sized and primed 100 new .45 auto cases before proceeding to deprime/resize and then reprime my last 200 several times fired .45 auto cases. The 100 new cases, along with another 200 I pick up on Friday, will eventually be loaded for our IPSC Handgun Nationals in November (less than a week after we return from our trip). I already have just over 500 new cases loaded up for the North Island Champs the week before we leave! (The round count for the NI’s is 240 so what is left over plus 300 rounds should see me through the usually 350 round Nationals, or do I need another 100 just in case? Mmm better make it an additional 200 just to be sure LOL). The previously fired cases will be reloaded and be practice ammo only during September (I still have 250-300 .45 practice rounds so that should be plenty).

This afternoon, after some chores around the house, I went back out to the shed and deprimed/sized and reprimed the 176 .38 special cases. I then primed the first 300 of the 9mm cases I deprimed and sized yesterday. Tomorrow I’ll finish priming the last 300 9mm’s then next week I’ll start the reloading (who am I kidding, the .38 press will be rotating tomorrow afternoon I can just about guarantee). The .38 press is already set up with the dies and powder measure drum for my .38 special load. Those’ll be first, then I’ll get the 9mm cases loaded and chamber dropped (luckily I still have around 500 9mm rounds for practice over the next month so don’t need to load for that). Then I’ll fill the .45’s and chamber drop those too.

Incidentally, the only difference between my practice and competition loads is that the later get chamber dropped before spending some time in the tumbler to get rid of any remaining lube and to look nice and shiny on the day .

Thanks for the info. I'll likely be ordering from them in the future.

No actual reloading today, but I bought 1600 once fired 45 ACP shells for a good price and ordered Lee 45 ACP dies so I can work up some *****cat loads for my 325 Night Guard, which beat me up shooting factory loads. Possibly tonight I'm going to order some 180gr coated bullets from Summers.

Nothing loaded, but sorted my wet tumbled "9 mm" brass which was a mix of 9x19, 9x18 (converted so wrong stamp) and 380 Auto (9x17) - lots of fun

Yesterday I unloaded a couple of boxes of 20 ga on my skeet field. Today I plan to unload a couple of boxes of 12's. Then I'll reload "em". Loaded 44mag's & 45LC earlier in the week.

Default Just spent another couple of hours in the man cave.

Finished off priming the last 300 9mm cases, and as I thought yesterday I got the .38 press spinning.

450 rounds of .38 special with a 148 gn plated HBWC over 4.2 gn Tightgroup in Starline cases, Federal SPP. At that point I ran out of the plated projectiles but had half an old box of Zero 148 gn LHBWC’s under the bench so I finished off the last 130 or so cases with those.

I’ll use the lead loads for practice and the plated for competition

And I have some .38 S&W rounds I’ll need to load soon which will take up the remaining LHBWC’s. But I’ll need to resupply the plated ones before 5he end of the year. Mrs KC will be pleased, not.
