Default Dillon pistol die decapping pin

I was finishing a run of .40 S&W on my Dillon 550B and had a broken decapping pin with only 15 rounds to go....darn it!

Scheels here in Billings sells a lot of Dillon product, so...off I go to get some more....they don't have them, but a friend of mine suggesting taking a look at the headed RCBS decapping pin and give them at try.

OK, a 5 pack is only 3.99.....THEY FIT PERFECTLY!!!

got to finish the run and learned a nice tip in the mean time.....

Randy

My Dillon 9MM sizing die has a pin that has a larger head on it than the RCBS/Lyman headed die pins. The RCBS headed pins I have wouldn't work on it, so I ordered 5 or 10 of the Dillon pins. I flat wore out the original pin on my 9 mm die. It got too short to reliably kick the primer out on the first run through and would leave the primer still barely hanging into the primer cup on the case about 10% of the time. After changing the pin I have zero problems with that.

I've made spares out of 6D nails. by turning the head and shaft in a drill with a file. They work perfectly.
