PSA: midway lowered HazMat to $10
Got an email today that they are lowered their HazMat to $10. Stocked up on #2 and #4100 (for my bigboomers) - turned out to about $21.70/lb shipped. Much better than local Cabela's.

Since I'm broke, of course they did.
Thanks for the head's up, hopefully it lasts until I'm ready to order!

HazMat fees are a shippers ripoff. Nothing special done with any of those packages.

It looks like they lowered the Haz Mat fee and raised the shipping fee.

Well, I feel your position but that's only half true or less. It makes no money for the shipper/seller, it goes to the carrier and ANY argument that the carrier isn't forced in to a laundry list of regulations is bunk and the penalties for even a small error are approaching ludicrous.
Perhaps a more valid and focused complaint is that the same primers, each seated in to otherwise empty brass is NOT a hazmat while boxes or cases of them are, but if you think the carrier does nothing whatsoever, you are absolutely wrong.

Oh, I wholeheartedly agree, but there's no way around it. Even with hazmat it's cheaper for me to buy online than even at gunshows. Granted I'm trying to buy no less than 8lbs at a time.

Not sure about that. It was $10 hazmat and $10 shipping (for 13#), so $20 overall - not bad.

Hmmm - stocking up on #2 just doesn’t sound right! On a serious note - I have almost given up on Midway given their (I think) over-priced and awfully slow shipping. I wouldn’t mind the shipping charge if they’d just use Priority Mail. But, they insist on using that ****** UPS Surepost. Amazon beats them on holsters, dies, you name it ...

I hear you on the Surepost thing, but my recent last few orders from Midway( all on their over $99 free shipping specials) have been coming regular UPS, even smaller boxes. Order on a Monday and it's here by Wednesday. Hopefully they heard enough complaining and ditched the Surepost.

Yea, hate their shipping but on the positive side - powder ships from distributor, they just pass the order and it can't be shipped via SurePost. As of stocking on #2 - it goes fast at 20.0 gr (yes, twenty) of min charge for "plinking" with my 500

I jumped in and bought a couple cases of primers on sale. I have to pay sales tax, being in Missouri, but it’ll be a nice drive over to pickup in person so I can avoid HazMat and shipping.

I priced some powder at Graf today, and their Hazmat fee was also $10.00, and $7.95 to ship(an 8# carton). Some of you may want to check with them.
Regards,
Andy

Midway runs these specials every so often, Also NO HAZMAT on CCI primers ETC,, but still charge more total than getting it at powder valley.. Just marketing gimicks,, Like the primers. were $10 per k higher than powder valley... with "NO HAZMAT" yeh baloney.
Oh FYI that AA@ is only 18 per lbs there.

Yea I use powder valley quite regularly but in this particular case midway turned out to be a winner by a few $$$ compared to them as well as compared to grafs.

Free shipping and free haz mat is no help when what you need is Federal small pistol primers.
For that we must go to Cabelas.com
