Default X-treme Bullets

Read on another forum that X-treme Bullet's parent company has filed for bankruptcy. I placed an order last week and even-though they dinged my credit card, I haven't received a confirmation via email.

In the event that there is some big delay before things get straightened out, is there another good source for copper plated bullets.

I've had good success with Berrys Plated although now I've mostly gone to Coated Lead. Shoots just about as clean. Also very accurate and cheaper than the plated/

Same here. I used to shoot a lot of Berry's and Rainier but now with coated bullets I don't see any real advantage to plated anymore. I never found anything really wrong with plated bullets and both Berry's and Rainier gave me excellent results. But when I can get 1000 coated bullets for my .357 for only $70 plated starts to loose it luster.

Say it isn’t so... I guess that’s the reason no Memorial Day or Fathers Day sales this year. Too bad. With 20% off and free shipping during their bigger sales it wasn’t bad.

Will look for other vendors now.

Some of my local shooting buddies like and use tons of Extreme bullets. I can't get a reason why except they just like the shiny look. As a 30 yr. handloader and competitive shooter, I've tried them all. I eventually settled on Montana Gold for jacketed and high quality cast lead for non-match. With the advent of Hi-Tek coating I rarely ever buy anything else.

I have wondered from time-to-time how Extreme could make money???

I'm a huge fan of X-Treme Bullets and Freedom Munitions. I thought Freedom Munitions was the parent company to X-Treme?
I'm still getting promotional emails from Freedom and they are continuously increasing their product lines, many of which use X-Treme Bullets. IDK, but I hope everything is okay as Freedom and X-Treme have been my go to sources for bullets and ammo lately.

Nobody needs to take my opinions as gospel, and for sure, they are merely opinions.

With that said...

As plated bullets, Xtreme makes darn good plated bullets. Which is really a lot like saying that McDonald's make a darn good fast food hamburger. The sales show it and opinions pile up, but at the end of the day we are still talking about a fast food hamburger. It isn't a steak and it sure isn't cuisine. It's potential is limited.

Plated bullets are great CHEAP slugs. I have burned through literally many tens of thousands and I have another 40k of them on hand, not yet loaded. Berry's and Xtreme are neck & neck, IMO. If you want prettier and shinier, Xtreme has the lead. If you want a better company to deal with, Berry's buries Xtreme. (Ha, had to)

And when the dust settles, it's still a plated bullet. Cheap, shoots clean, and it's potential is limited. If you want to mow down steel plates, do training schools, hit the "A" zone in IDPA and work on all your fundamentals, these plated slugs are fantastic.

If you showed up to a Bullseye competition with them, you'd be out of your mind and/or absolutely clueless and desperately needing help.

That's the bullets. Freedom Munitions is the textbook definition of junk ammo that is far too often suspect, shoddy and downright dangerous ammo that won't ever find it's way in to my guns.

Xtreme has definitely figured out plated bullets and quite well, I'd say. Business and customer service definitely seems like something they haven't figured out. And re-manufactured ammo/"factory reloads" ? Freedom Munitions is unsafe junk with a well-documented history of face in the dirt failure.

If Freedom Munitions goes away, our world gets a little bit brighter.

I'd be sorry to hear that news IF they do go belly up. Great product at VG prices. I pretty much went exclusively to Extreme plated bullets for a while (and still have a good 2/yr supply laid in). That said, after some recent experimentation, I think I'll be just as fine with Missouri Bullets coated line up. Same great service, good pricing and a wide selection.

I like Xtreme. I bought my last 1000 from Cabelas and got 200 45 ACP brass in the form of a mail in rebate from Xtreme. Bullets were on sale, Cabelas had free shipping, got 200 pieces of new brass And used my Cabelas bucks to pay for most of it. They have always been part of reliable, accurate reloaded ammo. If they happen to go away, I'd probably go with Rocky Mtn. Reloading, who also happen to be in Lewiston, ID.

Ditto. I'm still wondering if they will be doing their usual Father's Day special. I'll be watching really closely and if they do I'm going to jump in hard & early.

I've been waiting (3) months for my rebate brass & just a few days ago I sent them an email asking what happened & when I'll get them. Got a reply just saying it'll be taken care of.

I used to be very happy with Xtreme but I got a defective box of 240gr .44 bullets that leaded the barrel. Bullets (Xtreme's) I got before & after shot fine with the same load. After (4) months of going back & forth between different people & having to provide the same information I gave up trying to get replacements. I've noticed other changes in their quality plus they've been slower getting shipments out too. Sad.

In the future I'll use Rainier's or Zero's as my first choices.

I hope the Carson City Nevada shop survives..........
I am only 46 miles away from it and get great prices when I drive down.

Never had a problem with their bullets, lead or plated.

Chapter 11 is a provision of the bankruptcy law that allows companies an opportunity to restructure themselves without fear of the creditors swooping in and taking away the assets they need to run the business.

Most companies that go through Chapter 11 manage to successfully emerge and resume "normal" operations.

The stark reality is that companies find themselves in Chapter 11 because their management failed to anticipate and plan for likely changes in the business environment. A company in Chapter 11 needs to fundamentally re-assess and then change their business strategy to conform it to the new realities of the market is operates within. Unfortunately, most companies in Chapter 11 have already spent their limited funds on attorneys and the incidental costs of court proceedings and so they no longer have the working capital to implement the changes to the business that are required if it is to survive. As a result, most businesses successfully exit Chapter 11, but most of them are unable to survive more than about five years.

They made a plated bullet that is every bit as good as the finest bulk plated bullet ever offered (Berry's) and they managed to make theirs more attractive and shiny. They did that while offering fantastic prices and reliable shipping.

Then they expanded their product line by loading their own bullets in to used brass, selling a line of "reman" ammo. "Remanufactured", also known as "factory reloads."

This product line is absolutely suspect no matter what any one buyer's personal experience tells them. There have been far too many documented failures. One of my favorite was a box of 115gr 9mm where one of the loaded rounds was in a .380 cartridge case. I also recall (vividly!) when they debuted Freedom Munitions on the Xtreme website, they showed this sparkling bright picture of a pile of loaded ammo touting their new product and one quite visible round of ammo had an upside-down primer easily seen in the photo. Astute viewers hammered them on their Facebook page.

I have watched the decline in their customer service over the last 4 years. At the exact same time, powder coated slugs have really succeeded in the market and that must be eating some market share.

Some times we see history littered with good products that just couldn't be made to continue their success. Xtreme Bullets may end up being one of those.

I ordered some 40/10's on 6/17/18 and received them via UPS in 10 days, in So. CA with no notification. I have been using them almost exclusively for over 5 years and the last few orders have been received w/o notification. As I order ahead when they are on sale, I don't worry about delivery times. Only if I can intercept them before my wife sees the order arrive. The only thing that concerns me is if they are going to start charging tax for inter-state orders. I only buy bullets not loaded ammo from them.

I'll keep buying from them because they make a 158gr bullet that shoots ten shot groups that go into one hole at 25 yards for me behind 12.5 grains of 2400.

Xtreme bullets are all I use for all my target shooting (which is about all I do any more). Sure hope they get through all this, they have a great product at a reasonable price.

I've switched to Rocky Mountain Reloading because they have free shipping and another forum I belong to they give a 5% discount. Lately they been having some decent sales on their own in house products. I picked up 1k of the ss109 unpolished pulls for 85.50 shipped.

Totally agree. I think powder coat and hytek came along and took a big old bite right out of the most successful part of Xtreme and Freedom's base. Those pretty plated bullets were covering up a whole lot of sin elsewhere in those companies I think. I was surprised they never came out with a coated bullet.

No doubt coated bullets have put a dent in the platers' market share. Some people just love the look of those shiny bright Extreme bullets. Two shooting buddies buy them religiously....one guy actually polishes his ammo after he handloads to make the cartridges gleam.

I ordered some 45 colt and 44 bullets on the 15th of June the status had not changed in that time. I e-mailed them. I was told about the Chapter 11 stuff, they said It would be a few days to get caught up.

When they sent emails of their 24 hour flash sales of 10% off plus free shipping and I ordered just 500, I know there was little or no profit there for them.

I have shot thousands of 9mm from Freedom Munitions and really liked them a lot. But if you order from them I'd suggest ordering them by the thousands to make the effort worth it because their shipping is kinda slow and heck, if all I needed was 500 rounds then I'd drive the 1/2 mile down the street to my local Academy store & buy a 500 round WWB range pack. But Freedom's ammo burns very clean and I have no issues with them as well as some of my friends that purchased from them also. I've even taken advantage of their brass buyback program.
But would I order from them again? Probably not. But that's mainly because again i can walk to my Academy store they're so close, and walk out with a bucket of UMC or a 500 round range pack of WWB for 100 bucks and I don't have to wait 3 weeks before they ship it.

I've tried Xtreme bullets by using my Cabela bucks and they are a pretty bullet but I've seen no performance or value difference between them and Berry's. If anything I think Berry's are cheaper. And I can buy Berry's bullets in bulk in a 30 minute drive to my local Bass Pro Shop. Again, by applying my Bass Pro shop points, I can even save a buck or two.

Well, another month & a half has gone by & still no rebate brass from Xtreme.

Guess I can mark them off my list of reputable companies to do business with.

Default Plated bullets

I am not a professional shooter but shoot many local matches and find Rocky Mountain Reloading as good as any.

Another + for RMR.
They have become my +1 source for jacketed 9mm bullets.
