I've got some Barnes 140gr XPB Bullets I would like to load and try. I was gifted these and didn't realize how expensive they are. But the load data I've found is very conflicting. On the Barnes website, it gives a max load of 16.0gr of H110 that gives 1610fps with a 10" bbl. Looking at the Hodgdon site, they list data for a 140gr Hornady XTP at 17.1gr 1597fps and 19gr 1762fps. Is there that much difference in a solid copper bullet vs a jacketed bullet that would make the copper go same velocity with a full grain less powder, or is this just one of the differences we see from one source to another? Also, the Barnes bullet is longer than a 158gr jacketed, so with 17gr of powder, there is no way to seat bullet to the cannelure without compressing powder. The rest I've seen on the XPB are real impressive and I think it might make a great coyote killer as well as deer.
