After a year thinking about it. Waiting to see if it was going to take off. Didn't want get into the last two wildcat loads the fizz out (450 marlin and the 7mmWSM). At least the 7mm WSM is still live, being a reloader also help a lot too. Well back to the 224 Valkyie. At first it look it look like a fat 223 Remington. same size in length, a bigger case. I shot it for the first time last week just to break in the barrel and set the scope. Today I spend some time with it. I was at 100yds range and the scope was set 2" high to be dead on at 200yds. Feel recoil is a little more if not the same as a 243. I left my phone at home so no pictures for now. All I can say is WOW. With a low brand grade scope 3x9 44mm ($100) all I had at the time. it push the 10 Hornady 88gr bullet into a Quarter size group. Once I get a better scope we will try the 500yds mark and I will bring my camera. But looks like I found my new friend.

Sounds like a offspring from a 223 and a 22-250..........

Barrel twist will play a big part in accuracy with your bullet weights.

Good luck with the wild kid...... they can be fun if you can get
a handle on them.

The Winchester or bear claw or Nosler, might make a good deer load if they
settle down in your rifle.

My neighbor just built one and loves the way it shoots. I hope to get him to my range and get a better look at its performance.
He did say it hits a lot harder than 5.56 on the steel plates he has been using. Sounds like an interesting caliber worthy of consideration.

Read about the 224 valkyrie & all's I could think was those bullets heavy 22cal would be doing 280,000+rpm.

I have been shooting the 224 V for several months. I bought it specifically to shoot 90 gr or heavier bullets out to and past 1000 yds. My barrel has a 1-6 twist rate.
I have been shooting the 90 and the new Sierra 95 gr HPBT in the rifle. I have a NF NXS on the rifle and it turns in sub moa groups out to 1000 yds.
In a couple of weeks I will be on a 2500 yd range and I will take the 224 out past 1000 and see how it does.

I had been working with a 223 Ruger PR with 80 gr Berger’s at 1000 yds, but the 224V opens an entirely new dimension in long range 22 caliber shooting.

Any special load for 90gr or less that you can pass along. E-mail them to be please. What powder do you feels is the best for now. I'm sure as time goes off there will be more information.

The attached data is from the Sierra load data web site, they have data for the lighter weight bullets also. Goggle “ Sierra 90 grain 22 caliber load data”. I am using Re 17 at max load. I shot a couple cases of the Federal factory loads before I started handloading for it. I have handloaded the 77,90
and 95 grain SMK’s with Re 17. I am going to try and take the 90 and 95 grainer’s out to 1500.
