Default St. Marks powder: hurricane damage?

Michael went inland near St Marks. Hoping powder factory survives.
Could be another disaster caused powder shortage. If anyone hears specifics, post them.

I just looked up the address of the plant and gave it a once over in Google Earth. GE shows an elevation of only 9-10 feet and it isn't that far from the Gulf, so storm surge might have done some damage.

Bugkiller,
Really? Trying to start an unfounded rumor on a good forum like this one? Not good...

Snakeye, cussing? Come on.

No rumor! St. Marks Powders/General Dynamics is immediately north of the town of St. Marks, and only 7-10 miles from the Gulf Coast. The town of St. Marks got a LOT of damage from the hurricane, it's hard to believe the powder plant didn't receive significant damage.

I didn't say the plant didn't suffer any damage, I don't know. I was saying there is no reason to start talking about shortages and encourage the stamped.

Certainly not my intent to start a stampede or start rumors. As Alk8944 said, it's hard not to believe the powder factory was not damaged.

Unfornately, ours is a hobby impacted by many outside forces we can not control. The winds of politics we are sadly, very familiar with. Now we must also consider the winds of Mother Nature.

I'm ok for a good while and just picked up anoter can of Win 230 for 3 dollars and some 540(HS-6) for the same cost. Also got some 680 and I really don't have a need for it. I had to take all the powder the fellow had but only paid a dollar for the 680. I gotta stop buying powder. Aren't strategic industries usually somewhat hardened against weather and other factors?

I've let my fingers do the walking.
all that really comes up about it is some "pre game hype"
I suspect they'll just have to scrape some gator meat off the parking lot before returning to production.

Undisclosed sources who wish to remain anonymous, as they are not authorized to reveal such information, report that St Marks Powder, a Division of General Dynamics May or May Not have suffered some minor or major damage due to Hurricane Michael
It is not yet known if National Security is at risk.

There are other companies/plants that make powders.

But the storm surge would have been salt water and salt water is quite corrosive, so wouldn't that mean that such powder would be corrosive powder? :-D
