I'M WITH YOU 100%, jimbo728. I NEVER AM EITHER ! ! !
AT THIS STAGE OF THE GAME (ASSUMING THE TARGET ON THE RIGHT IS YOUR LAST), ONE CLICK OF ELEVATION OR WINDAGE MAY BE AN OVER CORRECTION......
IT MAY PROVE IMPOSSIBLE TO MOVE THIS GROUP EXACTLY WHERE YOU WANT IT....SPOT ON THE X, IN THE CENTER RING.....
SOMETIMES, THE INCREMENTS OF ADJUSTMENT ON THE SIGHT, ARE JUST NOT FINE ENOUGH TO MOVE THE POI, MERELY THE SMALL DISTANCE THAT IT NEEDS TO GO. AN IMPOSSIBLE 1/2 CLICK, MAY BE WHAT IS NEEDED.....
AFTER WALKING MY GROUP TO BEING A 1/2 CLICK TO THE LEFT OF THE X, INSTEAD OF TO THE RIGHT, I WOULD HAVE TO THROW MY HANDS UP IN SURRENDER---AND PICK THE SETTING THAT I CAN BEST LIVE WITH......
AFTER ALL, DEAD IS DEAD ! ! !

Looks like it's time for that top-of-the-line Schmidt and Bender scope.

All the same target. And I agree that 1 click up might throw it all off.
I am just happy I put 5 shots together. Im not going to get overconfident because that never helps.
One Eye Joe, That`s`s a sweet M1 A set up! My Savage turn bolt repeater is all factory except for the scope and the bird cage.

I see the bullet/projectile listed as 110gr. When I was shooting/reloading 30-06,I used the Sierra 110gr HP and attained 3800fps.

Back when M1a came out they had a loading manual with it. One
of the recommended accuracy loads was Speer 130gr Hp #2005
over 47.0gr IMR 4895. This load made a believer out of me. It
out shot everything else. I had been using 150gr bullets in my
308s for years. I tried them out in my BA 308 and is now my standard load. May not be best bullet for over 300yds but is a
tack driver in that range. Have shot many groundhogs in 300yd
range with this load. Bullet also expands well on deer. Out of my
M70 I can drive the roofing nails on target board, literally.

WHEN I WAS YOUNG AN COMING UP, I ALWAYS RELIED ON IRON SIGHTS.......
LATER ON, AFTER I WAS IN AND OUT OF THE MILITARY, AN OL' TIMER AT MY CLUB RANGE, GAVE ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHOOT HIS SCOPED BOLT ACTION......
NEVER HAVING SHOT A SCOPED WEAPON BEFORE, I WAS IN AWE ! ! ! ONE THING THAT HE TOLD ME STUCK IN MY HEAD.....
HE SAID THAT YOU SHOULD SPEND AT LEAST--IF NOT MORE ON YOUR SCOPE, AS YOU SPENT ON YOUR RIFLE. A GREAT SCOPE ON A MEDIOCRE RIFLE, WILL YIELD BETTER RESULTS THAN A MEDIOCRE SCOPE ON A GREAT RIFLE......
I BELIEVE IT TO BE TRUE......

Years back I loaded 130-grain HPs in my -06 for shooting rockchucks. It would literally vaporize them.

I'd say you are about as close as you are going to get with 110's. Your Savage has probably got a 1:10 or 1:12 (most likely) twist that typically dont stabilize bullets lighter than about 155gr well.

What is that one of those trick 3" quarters?, but actually good shooting at 100 yards. I shoot for groups at that distance first. Than once I establish my best grouping load with the given components, I then dial it in for the X ring. Some scopes have 1/4", some have 1/2", some even 1". so the fine adjustment is limited by the scope. I'm in Arizona so I get to shoot long distance and precision all year long.

To the left of the septum or to the right of the septum?

That`s the bullet I used. I run them at 2850. They sure can move if that`s what`s needed. Been using that load since my M1a days in the 80`s. It was very accurate in that rifle too.

The twist rate is 1:10. It`s put 3 touching a few times. For me opening up
going over 3 shots, that close together ,is me, not the rifle.
Black targets dont show the holes very well in my scope, so when I dont see them I do not get the fear of blowing a good group.

As a Drill Sergeant told one of our platoon on "zero day" at the range (M-14) who put all 9 rounds in the Bulls eye, "Son, you might not hit a Grey Hound Bus, but you would scare the "fire" out the drive!"

My method of sighting in is a cross with magic marker. The first
thing I do is adjust for windage at 50yds. Then go to 100yds for
elevation. For iron sights do it same way only go 25yds windage.
I have no experience with Savage 110 series rifles. I've owned
several I got on trades but never have shot one. I have loaded
the 130 Speer HP in everything from 30/30 to 300Win mag and
only rifle that didn't like it was my old 1895 Win. Not surprising
it doesn't like any Spitzer style bullet. Out of M1a this load is
listed at 3000fps.

All I can say is... "Wow".
That is a very good group for a little 110gr bullet out of a 308 !!
I had to go up to a 150gr for any accuracy in my .308 semi, Win. 100 rifle.
My 1903 bolt shoots 100gr "Plinkers" ok at 50 yards but that is a different ball game.
Always nice when a load comes together.

I actually had to drop down to the 110`s to be able to shoot .308.
Recoil of trigger guard slammed my fingers of my badly damaged hands.
Remembering that old 110gr load was a blessing for sure. I remember those 100gr
Plinkers. Half jacket lead. I shot those in a .308 Ishapore SMLE. I called those loads Spitfires!
Thanks
Jim

THAT IS CRITICAL INFORMATION. THANKS FOR SHARING.....
INFO LIKE THAT, HAD TO BE CONSIDERED IN CHOOSING AMMO FOR MY BUSHMASTER, VARMINTER WITH A 1:9 RH TWIST, WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE FINE FOR BULLETS WEIGHING 70 GR OR LESS..........
