Frangible 41?
The wife and I are starting to save up and plan for taking a training course at thunder ranch in a few years.
Two of their locations they require frangible ammo. She will probably shoot 38spl or 9mm, so finding and loading bullets for that is zero problem.
I was planning on shooting my 657 with 41 specials.
Therein lies the problem... as anyone ever come across frangible bullets in 41?

I've never heard of any, but then I've never looked.

Why don't you call or e-mail the range and ask what they recommend?

You da man!
I too love the 41 Mag, but I have never seen frangible 41 Mag ammo.
Just out of curiosity, which 657 will you be taking to the class?

Sadly, I haven't been able to turn anything up yet either.
I still have two years before my wife is done with her degree, so either something will turn up, or I will just shoot a 686 or my EDC 649 instead.
Who knows it might be worth emailing them and asking about it, I know Clint is a fan of the 41 so they might have addressed this issue in the past. Thank you for the suggestion.
Hopefully Clint will still be teaching by the time we plan on making the trip.
To answer which 657.. I am shut in the house today due to an ice storm, so I will take a photo in a second. =)

All of them are newer IL guns.
The 649 is my pocket gun that I carry daily. My job puts me in a some sketchy areas in the middle of the night. But due to a set attire, this is the most I can conceal efficiently.
The 657 PC is my favorite gun, both in terms of subjective happiness about the caliber and the accuracy I have posted with it. I shoot it better than any other wheel gun, and honestly, despite the weight, it is the best carrying AIWB gun that I have. The barrel is just short enough to not crowd anything, and on the belt it balances well. I carry it when I don't have a uniform to wear and I can throw on a flannel to cover it. This is also my go to gun for mountain hikes in bear country. The downside is that it feels slightly slower in handling than my other wheel guns due to its bulk.
The 686+ handles a little faster for me, but I don't like carrying it AIWB as much because of the longer barrel. So I generally carry it on short hikes around the homestead with the pup. I can tolerate an OWB gun for a few hours before the sciatic pain creeps in. I have shot this gun in club IDPA matches before and enjoyed my time with it.
I have a pair of glocks that get carried in bad weather because they are easier to clean. However, I can take any handgun class that will welcome them. I want to travel to thunder ranch because it is a school that still believes in the validity of revolvers and offers instruction for them.

While not technically frangible, I do have several thousand ZINC 41 Magnum projectiles on hand.
They do not harm the environment like lead if that is what their concern is

My guess is the frangible bullet thing is more about ricochets then toxic bullets. Any monolithic copper bullet would serve the purpose of non-toxic and are most likely available in .41 caliber.

If you've got two years you have time to make some yourself. I've never tried to figure it out yet but obviously someone has. When loading for the .41s sometimes you have to work outside of the box if you want something exotic, or normal for the other calibers.

You're probably not going to get very good accuracy, but they make a frangible bullet for the 40 S&W. If push comes to shove, it might be worth while to do a little experimentation with them. I think you are going to be looking for a long time for .410 diameter frangible.

..another big time .41 Shooter here and I have never seen any fragible rounds or bullets either. The zinc mentioned above is about it...
You may have a bigger problem however...you may want to check to see if reloads can be used in the course. SIG for one provides all the ammo for their courses as many are indoors on their frangible range...
