A Lyman cast bullet manual would be a good starting point.

The Lyman 4th edition cast bullet manual shows loads with 231 for both
the .30 and 9mm Luger.

You asked:
If 9mm Luger, I shoot my home cast 125g LRN over 4.0g of W231 seated to a OAL of 1.135" in my Colt's (9mm Competition Model, 9mm Combat Commander)
My older Lyman manual indicates a Start load is 3.9g W231 and Max is 4.4g W231
My above load is reasonably accurate (at 20 yards) and very manageable as far as recoil.
As above its always in your best interest to consult a loading manual before proceeding.

Somewhere along all the posts I've read over the years I believe the Luger functions best with a slightly 'warm' load. We'll see if someone confirms this.
If so, load a few and check function before you load a bunch!!
