Triple lock loads
Just got at nice original triple lock at local gunshow, a few weeks back. Want to load some 44 spl's for it. I have some trail boss which should be a good way to go. Looking for some Trail Boss suggested loads for the triple lock. Obviously on the mild side, don't need to hop this one up. Any suggestions appreciated.

The Hodgdon loading data shows several loads in different bullet weights for Trail Boss for you Charlie. From 165 grain lead to 240 grain LSWC.

Mine shot very low with mild loads.
It's a robust N frame so not sure of the obviously part.
Elmer may have hurt a few but .....

Heat treating didn't get under way until WWI, so thought it best to keep it on the mild side.

I don't see what you are worrying about Charlie. SAAMI specs for .44 Special is only 15,500 psi, so I wouldn't sweat non +P loads.

I don't use trail boss for my .44 spl loads in my TL or 3rd model. I use GT bullets 255 gr Keith style bullets loaded on top of 6.8 grs of AA#5 which produces just a little under 800 fps. It's a pretty mild load but accurate enough so that I use it my 24-3s which could handle much heaver loads.

7.5 gr of unique or 17.5 gr of 2400 and the Keith bullet . Elmer never damaged any TL that I am aware of .

Just don't venture in the +P trail and the gun...and you will be fine.
