I dont like to use Hitek coating but I really like and use thousands of 135gr Blue Bullets. Accurate, uniform, no residue left behind, fantastic!

I started using them (I use the 9mm 115gr RN) about 6 months ago.

I *love* them. Inexpensive. Shoot well. Easy to load. I do a lot of casual steel plinking. They're perfect for me for that use.

I bought 4K of them a few months ago. Our mail lady isn't the most warm and bubbly person. Knew the day the package was arriving and purposely met her at the end of the driveway. She looked at me kind of annoyingly and said something like "Well.....what do you want me to do with the really heavy box?" "That's why I'm here. I'll take care of it."

I like them in 357 and 45, haven't tried them in 9mm yet.
That 120 TCG looks like a nice design.

I have used them for a while now, and like them. I had a problem with deposits in my bore ith one batch, and the owner went out of his way to make it right. Very nice bullets, buy with confidence.

They do good work. I really like the hi tek coating, it's all I use now. If they cooked it right it's never coming off the bullet. Way less smoky and sticky than wax. Also if you accidentally put some ammo in your pocket the bullet won't come out looking like a lint ball

I use 9mm, 380, and 45. No problems, and send really quick often same day I order. I have noticed you do need to clean well and use a brush, find what originally looks clean a few days later has some residue in the grooves.

I like their revolver bullets but for the price of 9mm you might as well shoot true jacketed bullets from Precision Delta . $83.00 a 1k shipped .

Smile I use them extensively

I started buying Bayou Bullets about 10 yrs. ago when they were the early bird to market. My experience is primarily with 9mm/38 super/357 bullets from 124 gr to 160gr. and 45ACP 230 gr. No complaints. I do wish most of the producers would switch to no grease groove moulds. This makes for a shorter bullet and more room for powder.

SNS casting now provides a 124gr 9mm bullet with no groove. I bought 1K of them to load 9mm to use in my S&W 929.

As for grumpy mail ladies and heavy boxes(grumpy mail men too), I don't blame them. USPS should at least provide them with equipment to handle the 60# boxes. Mail carriers in my town are now mostly Hispanic women with a very good attitude and smile.

Use them at times but in .358 cal 158 gr swc in my 357 Magnum. This coating works great and shoots cleanly. Bayou Bullets is an excellent American company...quality products.

Bayou Bullets is good stuff. I found them in late 2014 and ordered a 100 trial pack. Loaded them up and shot them. I then ordered a couple of cases, a few days later I drove over and picked them up, which I have done a few times.
I have used all of the 150's I bought but still have 147 and 135 grainers for 9mm. I also have the 230 and 225 grainers for 45acp. As long as you flare the case mouth to not scrape the coating during seating you should not get any leading. Any coating that rubs off in the barrel is easily cleaned out in my experience. Definitely a lot less smoke than using ALOX coated lead.

They should work out for you well. Don't forget to let us know how it goes.

I looked at their website, having trouble imagining how you load something with such a deep grove. I don’t load very much lead so they just look weird to me. What do you do different?

Load them like any other lead cast with a lube groove, the lube covers the entire bullet instead of being in the groove. The groove will be below the case mouth. Flare the case mouth enough to not scrape the coating off while seating. Seat to the required COAL and crimp just enough to remove the flare to pass the plunk test.

Flaring and crimping can be a bit tricky due to case length differences from case to case.

Ive used them in 9mm/124 and 45swc 200gr. No issues at all.

I’ve since started using some Acme 125 9mm with green coating that run $30/500. Hard to beat the price and they’re as good as anyone else’s. I’m also using Summers out of Mississippi. Excellent prices and service.

I ordered samples from half a dozen companies when I realized I couldn't cast anymore due to shoulder damage. I weighed and measured 100 bullets from each of these companies. Weighing bullets and placing them in a graph really gives an idea of the consistency of the maker. Most were all over the place with a 2-3 grain spread. With Bayou 88/100 bullets were 158.4-158.6
which is amazing consistency. Measuring these bullets with a .0001 mike they are all the same, simply put no variation. I would not use any other commercial cast bullet. I'm using 158 gr. SWC for .357 and 240 gr. SWC in .44.

What are you shooting the 44 in? Magnum or special?

This is primary issue with Missouri, I've goofed around with their harder 44 Keith projectiles at Magnum loadings and they're leading on me in my Super Redhawk. Their softer Cowboy #3 run just fine...but those 44 K not so much.

I'll need to order some more here sooner or later, I may try these Bayou offerings.

Shooting in 44 Magnum but not at magnum velocities. Can't answer your question.

I use the 9mm 145gr Summers Hi Tek bullets. I've shot a ton of them and never a problem. Plus, they're cheaper.

Dennis at Bayou is super nice and friendly and great customer service. I love all their bullets except the only bullets I do not like are the RN(round nose) 145gr bullet because you have to seat them pretty deep to fit most cylinders. For their 145gr I used Power Pistol 4.3gr at OAL of 1.070 length. Recoil is pretty soft and feels like a 115gr Critical defense round

I've been trying out a lot of different brands of coated bullets. So far, I've tried Acme, Blue Bullets, Brazos and Bayou. They all perform about the same out of my Sig striker fired pistols. I don't get the kind of pristine accuracy that I get from copper jacketed bullets, but they are fine for shooting at the A zone out to 25 yards. The Brazos are the least expensive, I believe. Most, if not all, of the companies will ship sample packs for a nominal fee.

I have been using Bayou for a few years for target loads. My preferred bullets are the 124gr .356 for 9mm/38SPL and the 200gr FP .451 bullet.

I've puchased Bayou 125-158 gr for my .38, 200 gr for my .45, and recently 124, 135, and 147 gr for my 9mm. All were coated and when I weighed the first few thoussnd, they were pretty consistent in weight. I usually order over the weekend, and most of the time, they are at my doorstep by Friday. I never counted them until my last order of 124 gr 9mm. There were 531 in my box of 500. I use the .45s and .38s in revolvers. The bullet profile is much more narrow at the tip which speeds loading wit out chammered chambers. The crimp groove on the 135 and 147 gr 9mm are low on the bullet. I have to seat and taper crimp the above the groove in order for the COAL to pass the plunk test and load into the magazine. No problem with excess pressure since I don't load near max velocity. I haven't noticed any coating residue in my chambers or barrel. I'm not sure if it my imagination, but the flat points seem to knock over steel faster than round nose with the same loads. Thumbs up from me.

Default Charge Adjustment?

I've yet to try coated bullets and am curious about load adjustment. Is it reasonable to simply use the same powder charges for hard cast lead? Do all polymer coated bullets have essentially the same bore friction resistance? Intuitively, polymer would be slicker and use less powder for equivalant velocities to lead.

I only have occasional access to a chronograph. Most of the loads tested are out of a 3" 686+ and 5" 625-2. The velocities were lower than expected with each. At the time, I was using Redding profile crimp dies. Tried a little more crimp, but velocities were still low. Went back to roll crimp for the .38 and taper for the .45. Velocities were closer to what I expected. Bottom line is that I use lead data with comfort.

I have some bare lead 44 240g SWC and some Hi Tek version of the same thing. The bare is measuring .429, the Hi Tek, .430.

Over the same load of 2400/H110/UNQ, same chrono, same gun, same day, the Hi Tek loaded projectiles, loads over H110 and Unique were nearly identical. 2400 produces a slight difference with the Hi-Tek coming in 4% faster average fps...but that's it.

In other words, I lode them with lead load data and they're just fine.

Ditto to all that.

I really like the 145 RN for IDPA revolver shooting. The round nose is a breeze with speed loaders, less risk of hang-ups than with the SWC style bullets. I was looking for a 148 ish bullet for IDPA revolver and the 145 RN fills the bill.

All top quality

I have shot the hiteck coated to 1450fps magnum levels without any leading.

Good stuff.

I use them in my 1911 bullseye gun, 185 grain SWC with 3.8 grains of bullseye. At 25 yards if the gun is pointed at the X ring that is where the bullet goes. Bayou makes a nice product.
