Default Reload for the 44 mag model 29-2

I loaded 6 44mags using Power Pistol. Recipe was:
44 240gr target hollow point
10 grains Power Pistol
Winchester Large Pistol or Mag Pistol loads primers
1.6 coal
Anyone see any issues with this...

I just checked Alliants website and they don't list a load using a 240gr bullet . That doesn't mean it's not safe . They just didn't get that far . Power Pistol is a slower burn that unique . Alliant shows a max load of Unique using a 240gr bullet as 10 grs . I have read that some guys use 8.0 grs in a 44 special load with a 240gr cast bullet . I don't see anything wrong with your load using 10 grs . Good Luck , Regards Paul

That sounds like a good starting point to me. My new Sierra Edition VI book shows the Sierra 240 JHC with a starting load of 9.7 grains of Power Pistol. As to OAL, I generally just load to the cannelure on the bullet and don't worry about OAL on revolver cartridges for the most part.
