Default Found a box of .40, Hornady 155gn XTP projectiles

Someone must have given them to me because all I load in 40 S&W is 175gn lead. Powders on hand include Unique, SR 4756, Bullseye, Universal Clays and W231. I'm having trouble finding finding load data for the 155gn bullets, seems the 165s are more popular. Any loading recommendation with those powders?

There is one of your powders on this page. This is from the old Hornady manual, but I'll go check their latest. Latest also only shows SR4756.

I used to use Longshot and HS6, but of your powders Id guess Unique might be your best choice if youre looking for a fast load. I only shot a box or two of 155 XTPs through my .40 and 10mm handguns. In both calibers, I ended up preferring heavier bullets - with the exception of ammo for my 4040PD. In that particular gun, I used Winchester STHPs, and never found my handloaded ammo with the XTPs gave the same accuracy. Probably not so much a fault of the bullet as a fault of the handloader.

Thanks, my Horniday manual #3 doesn't even list 40 S&W and as I reload handgun rounds with cast bullets my newest manual is geared toward those. I'll either try SR4756 or give the bullets away as a karma to someone who will use them.

Alliant's website gives a load for Unique of a max load of 8.0 grains for a 155 GDHP Speer bullet. Velocity is listed at 1207 fps. That should give you something to work off of at least, since both are hollow point bullets.

You can use the start load of 165 grain bullets

If data is not available the next higher weight can be used.
