Good luck. Scalpers are getting over $100 a 1000 on one of the popular auction sites. Sad thing is folks are paying it.

Google, Google, Google. Check every site, every day. Midway, Natchez, Graff & Son, Powder Valley, etc. Get on the "Notify Me" list at each site. Check every local gun shop. About a month ago, I got 10k small pistol from of all places Cabela's! And at regular prices. Midsouth Shooters Supply usually carries bulk 22 Cal bullets. That's about all the help I can be...

During times when things are difficult to find and expensive when they are found, money is no object for many.

The time to have been stocking up was a year ago.

How could anyone NOT have seen this coming?

The current situation will likely go on for at LEAST another year.
If you donít already have it, you are out of luck.

Since the early 1990s, this is about the fourth, maybe fifth time we've seen this happen. These drought periods are becoming regular and predictable.

Look at the ammo shelves in stores that sell it. They’re full of dust. Ammunition manufacturers are using most of the primers they’re making to produce ammunition. It is more profitable to produce and sell loaded ammunition than strictly primers.

Supply of ammunition is non existent, demand is such that I’ve never seen before. Shelves will be dry a long time

I've got about 10K of CCI SR (and about 7K of Wincester LR) primers I'll never use; too bad I'm not qualified to ship them to you.

Anyone in the Phoenix area interested?

I've been trying to explain to one of my kids, who buys .22 LR and 7.62x39 a box or two at a time, and only when he's planning to shoot, if you see it on the shelf now, BUY IT. And, the time to buy is when you DON'T need it.

Same with primers. As recently as February I bought Fiocchi primers from Graf's for $26/1000.

I would suggest you scour your local on-line classifieds. Craigslist, any local/state gun forums, even Armslist. Just this week I picked up 2 lbs. of Vihtavouri N110 powder for $25 per, from an ad I found on Texas Gun Traders Classifieds.

One last suggestion would be to suck it up and buy some factory ammo. When I start to reload a new military cartridge (.303 British, 7.5x55, .30 Carbine, et al.) I find it's just about as cheap to by Prvi ammunition as it is to buy new brass and reload. I know the .223/5.56 is different because it's so plentiful, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

as for the current climate, I understand... I recently decided to get into pistol hand loading with some convincing from a very good friend. So i figured I might as well do some rifle reloading as well... but ots been slow motion... I have plenty of SPP, LPP and some SMPP but im not willing to sacrifice thoes yet..... as I find them ill just buy them up...

Can you not ship primers via UPS if the package has the ORM-D label on it? Probably have to pay for hazardous shipping too.

There are only two ways to ship live primers without HAZMAT:

If they are loading cartridges or primed brass

Primers in their original packaging only go HAZMAT regardless of the carrier.
