2nd 130 HST test..... with data
This 130gr HST is a very interesting bullet to load and test !!
Frustrating day with the M49..............after the HS6 loads (two shots only) .
Stay safe.

Thanks. Why the frustration? Low FPS on the bottom pair?

The high FPS HS-6 loads locked up my action on the revolver, for some reason.
Cylinder would not open and the weapon would not cock.
Finally got things to work after tinkering with it and just had my doubts about the weapon, the rest of the test.
It might have been from a primer, or any thing but it did get my full attention, with this much fps out of a little stainless steel J frame.
It has taken a few hot 158 "FBI" loads and survived over the years.......
just that I don't like to over stress this great little revolver.....
and the word low FPS is an under statement on the bottom 2400 powder load.
It is almost 240 feet below the Federal factory speeds for a 2" snub nose !!
I don't know if 2400 will meet factory spec's with a 1.18" OAL, even with a full case of powder ?
Later.

Why the lower velocity for the higher loading of Unique? 785 fps for 5.1 gr. and 882 fps for 4.6 gr? That looks somewhat anomalous.

Thanks for posting...
Did you say what the distance was?
I've hot rodded some short barrels and am usually disappointed even knowing that the load data is really optimistic. Fortunately HSTs are very good and consiistent performers.
Dang nab horse's patoot fer cryin' out loud 1 7/8" barrels. I wouldn't hurt a carry gun to have a 2 1/2" or 3" barrel.

As a note;
2400 powder with this bullet with a OAL of 1.18" and a 100% full case of powder did not work out for me and had less than 800 fps that is needed for these bullets to penetrate enough and to also expand !
My final test are coming up for the J frame.

New data will be coming soon.
I just got back from Utah from a five day family reunion that had 42 members........
plus the D&Law from Vegas is visiting with us right now, since she just bought a new home up here and is moving soon.
I also want the heavy smoke from the Calif. fires to clear the area before going out to shoot...........
plus It might be my last test for this site for a while, since I am down to 98 small pistol primers.
Later.

I'm sorry to hear that Ed. I wish there was a good way to get some from here to there, but there is not. I have a large cache of spp though they are Remington 1 1/2s and not suitable for really high pressure loads like .357Sig, etc.........
