RCBS Pullet Puller

I have two RCBS Bullet Puller Kits (hammer type with green heads)
The small rubber bands that hold the chucks together both broke.
I have attempted several times to order these bands from RCBS via telephone and Email without reaching a company rep.

Is there another method to reach someone ?

I went to the plumbing department of the local hardware store. I had to buy a 5 pack. If you have a friend with an O-Ring kit/assortment, he will probably have one that fits for a quarter!

Just take the shell holder that fits the round your trying to get the
bullet out, insert said round in shell holder and put it in the hammer, screw cap on and bang away. Do away with that other
thing.

The shell holders usually work (except on very large rimmed cartridges) but the expanding collet is faster if you are doing more than one.

The o-ring idea is a great one, Ivan! Mine is ancient and has a metal springy thing to hold the three pieces together. Doesn't always go back in place so there's a bit of fooling around now and then.

Here's pictures of how easy that is.
It's almost like they had this in mind when they designed the hole in the cap.
I don't think it's any slower than those floobie factory chucks.
Maybe faster if your factory thingy keeps falling apart.

Another tip is to put a foam earplug in the bottom to catch the bullet.
This helps prevent deforming the bullet so you can use it again.

I keep pulled bullets separate and use them for velocity testing if they are in good shape.
A lot of these come from load ladders where I decided to quit before the top and unload the most powerful, possibly unsafe, ones.
I also unload anyone else's handloads I have been given.
I'll use the primed brass in that case but the powder goes on the lawn.

Anything with much of a crimp, I use the RCBS collet bullet puller.
It's quite fast but can deform the bullets more, especially cast.

Yep, Ivan has it right!

I keep a 10 pack of Danco #67 o-rings on hand. Got them in the plumbing department at Lowes for less than $3.

I also use a different size for the bullet sizing dies on my Lyman 450. I think they are a #35. Cheap and efficient.

Years ago I bought one of these collets (less the new shim) and it fits my RCBS fine. The nice thing about it is that the O-ring is crimped on the three aluminum pieces so they never separate. It's also split so you don't always push the bullet through a circle. I was always having problems with the collet assy. becoming 4 separate pieces.
I've had mine for 8 years now and it's still going strong.
