Default Boolits for a Model 57 .41 Magnum

I have ample jacketed bullets for hunting and serious shooting. Just looking for something reasonably accurate for informal target shooting.

My batch of Berry's plated bullets is just about depleted and frankly I wasn't too happy with them anyway. They were very slightly undersized (still within target specs) and I found the accuracy to be poor.

My thinking is to switch to another brand of plated, or maybe try some coated bullets. I have never tried coated in anything before.

So, anyone have a supplier they like? Obviously, a recommendation for a coated 0.410 would be nice, but I'd like to hear about other calibers as well.

I like SnS. I don't think I have shot any .41's from there yet, but several other calibers. I have good luck with a cast 210-220 gr bullet and 7-9 grains of Unique.

I've used both SNS and Bayou coated bullets. SNS site is currently down for maintenance, but Bayou has a .41 caliber 215 grain semi wadcutter bullet sized .401" and coated either black cherry or gold color. Cast lead bullets are typically sized .001" larger diameter than jacketed bullets.
At the current time, shipping will not be very timely.

My cast 210 SWC (RCBS mould) as well as commercially cast bullets of similar size and weight sized to either .410 or .411 have always shot very well in my Models 58 and 57. I've had very good results with Missouri cast bullets' cast bullets.

I have never shot any coated bullets in my 41 Magnums, but that is just because I am not set up for coating.

Since 1980 the mold that I have been using drops the SWCs at 215 grains when using wheel weights. I size to .411 as I lube the bullet

Like others I have put that on top of 7 grains of Unique and a Winchester primer

This combination has proven extremely accurate in all my 41s and it is very pleasant too shoot.

I am a dedicated Keith 220gr. SWC fan. Usually loaded to about 1400fps using 2400.

For a target shooting cast bullet . The LEE 410-210 TL works fine with up to 8.0 grs of Unique . It's an inexpensive mold , is a tumble lube design and is accurate . Elmer Keiths middle load for the 41 was 7.5 grs of Unique . I have tried that load , just to say I tried all three of EK's loads and found it a good load . If you want to buy your cast bullets , Missouri Bullet Company is a good source as well as Penn Bullets . Missouri Bullet Co. sells HI-Tech coated bullets if coated is your preference . I hope this helps , regards Paul

Missouri Bullet Company and SnS make a fine coated bullet. I have bought from both in the past.
