Default switching primers

I am curious if when you have a good handgun load using x brand primers but can't find x brand and have to switch to y brand is that something you adjust your load for or just use the same load with the different primers.
I am not talking mag primers to standard or vise versa, but using standard x brand SPP to standard y brand SPP.
All my loads are middle of the road loads, this gives me a little fudge factor in col, powder charge, brass used, ect. without the worry of over pressure.
This is of course for pistol only, my rifle loads are always spot on with no variance.

A Y brand primer vs an X brand primer should not factor in for load adjustment too much. My only consideration would be that Y brands primer hardness does not affect ignition. Only primers I really have not had luck with are Z brand. That would be Wolf primers. Had to double strike many to get them to go bang.

If loads are less than maximum, it's safe to switch. For best results, however, consider varying the powder charge up and down slightly and shoot some benchrested groups at 25 yards with these loads along with the load where the powder charge remained the same as your original load. There may be no difference in accuracy or it might be of some significance. There is no way of knowing this without testing.

The only cause I have for concern might be switching from a Standard primer to a Magnum. I had to do that recently when the primer supply dried up. With the Mags I will reduce powder charge a tad

I did a test a couple years ago using the same load but 4 different "brands" of primers and it made no difference in chronograph velocities, or POA/POI, all were within normal variations.

If you're in a rifle benchrest competition shooting 500yds then you might have to make some powder adjustments.
