Default 9mm RMR hybrid load with XTP data?

I can't find any book data for the RMR hybrids... However XTP data is everywhere. I measured several XTP and they avg about 0.571" and the RMR hybrids measure about 0.545", am I mistaken that if I seated the RMR to 1.060" per my book it wouldn't kill me, based on the fact that the base of the XTP would be farther in the case than RMR at the same COAL?

If you are speaking of the RMR 124 gr jacketed hollow point: I load them to 1.100 coal. They are very similar to the Nosler Sporting Handgun™ Pistol Bullet. Here's the data:

Your logic certainly makes sense as far as any anticipated pressure concerns. The question of OAL centers more on if (and how well?) this particular bullet will actually feed in your pistol.

Since you have 0.040" to work with before even getting to just another 22 shooter's recommended 1.100", & another 0.020" to the Nosler data (1.120") he references, it would seem to me you have plenty of room in which to work.

When you get to the actual reloading, start with something near the mid-range powder listings (I was pleasantly surprised to see I commonly load 8 of the 10 powders Nosler includes!): if you have other similar 9mm ammo (hp or flat nose) loaded that cycles through your pistol you should have a good place to start.

Cheers!

P.S. 1st loading a few dummy rounds at various OALs from 1.060 to 1.100" and seeing how they function might answer the OAL question pretty quickly.

I have used Nosler data for the RMR JHPs I have reloaded. In a comparison a few years ago the two bullets are very close, so I began with data from my Nosler manual, starting with listed minimum charges. I did a work up and now my "Just In Case" 9mm handloads are the RMR, with Nosler data...

I would probably use XTP data for RMR JHPs of the same weight starting a work up from minimum listed loads...

In my 9mm pistols, I have tried very short OAL with 3-5" barrels and several powders.

After the smoke settled, I found out that the shortest OAL that gave good in all weapons stared at.....
1.10" but 1.12" worked best for feeding and bulky Alliant powders.

For low pressure target loads, I got good accuracy with 950 fps loads with the...
115 FMJ at 1.14" and the 124 FMJ at 1.165", with copper and plated bullets.

Good luck with the new bullets.
