Powder trade?
I've traded pistol primers for rifle primers locally in the past. Since powder is not available are people considering trading? For example I would be willing to trade pistol powder for rifle powder.
Is one of these more scarce than the other? Or is this a viable trade? I could see how trust would be important on both sides.

I’ve traded both primers and powder. I think it’s a pretty even trade on powders. I’ve usually traded pound for pound, my rifle powder for their pistol powder. In my area it seems pistol primers are at a premium and a lot of people want more rifle in exchange for fewer pistol, although I’ve made several 1 for 1 trades with people I’ve met on Florida Gun trader and armslist. I think primers and powder are treated the same concerning shipping, so it would have to be a local face to face transaction.

It is difficult to mess up primers. I have soaked them in WD40 for a week, dried them and they all went bang.
It is very easy to mess up powder by adding the wrong one from the dispenser back into a different can. I would pass unless it was a really trusted friend.

I would only trade or accept sealed powders.

Powder Trading
OP - I think trading or even bartering is a good idea.
For me, I am uncomfortable asking. I have seen both types of
Reloaders. The one that keeps all their reloading items inside
safe, and the ones that have stuff in the garage.
One suggestion I do have, if the Powder is in a Tin Container
(sealed/not sealed), you need to look in the Tin for Rust!
Yes take your Flashlight out, and look!
Lucked out, there was no Rust.

I don't understand what you mean by "Viable Trade" but let me explain what a trade means .
I have plenty of sugar but no flour .
You have lots of flour but no sugar .
I trade you some of my sugar for your flour ... now we both have sugar and flour and we can both make cookies .
Viable ? I don't know but we both get to bake and eat cookies when before neither of us had any .
Define Viable for me ... does it mean " I get the better deal and the other guy gets the short end of the stick " ?

Viable trade means to me that you can do the trade. The trade is doable.
I suppose that if one or both traders were not happy with the trading terms the trade would not be doable.

I have been trading powder and primers. Not selling any, only trading.

I've thought about this a bit now. Trading powder with unknown people ain't something I'd want to do. I'm not saying I would never do it. It would require some much stronger motivations than I currently have.
