Default Bullets Available

I happened to drop in to my favorite LGS / Range today and noticed they were shelving a TON of Xtreme bullets, and they had a moderate pile left over from their previous shipment a couple of weeks ago. From this I would venture a guess that the bullet supply at least is loosening up more than a bit. Powder and primers still a bit thin.

I shop on X-treme's website and it seems like they've always had bullets throughout the shortage.

Not sure where they get their supplies!

I am pretty sure they are a manufacturer and not simply a wholesaler.

As stated above ^^^^^^^, X-Treme is the manufacturer of their products, not a wholesaler! If you would pay attention to their web-site this is clearly stated!

Bullets are just paper weights without primers.
I have an adequate supply of bullets, brass, and powder for several years. I do NOT have an adequate supply of primers.

Well they still need to buy lead and copper though. I don't think they manufacture those things.

I have been unable to find 158 grain JHP bullets for about a year now. A friend sent me an unopened box of Sierras. I was grateful.

Bullets have been generally available the last many months. Sometimes the lead times are longer, occasionally a lot longer. Most makers are running the volume SKU's to limit multiple setups for different products.

Last I checked copper has gone for all time high. Lead was average .50 Lb scrap.

For reloading bullets, I am finding a bit of a selected thaw. Every now and then, some manufacturers are releasing FMJ 9s, not much else seems to be flowing. I have noticed that Midway seems to be releasing small numbers of Hornady 9mm JHPs, some 40/10 JHPs, along with heavier 224 bullets.

I have even noticed that the price of molds is even starting to fall out of the stratosphere.

Can you imagine the glut of equipment and supplies in the secondary market that's coming?

I can only envision a glut in the used market only if powder, and possibly primers, don't reappear. I am really curious about the status of prime-all with the interest in reloading primers. What has really surprised me is the fact that roll caps have all but disappeared! Technically, percussion caps can be manufactured with just roll caps, but they've disappeared!

I think that most gun owners have realized how fragile the ammunition supply lines are, and don't want to be without. If components become available, while everyone may not reload all of their own ammo, they will most likely maintain a SHTF cache. At the moment, those that are currently shooting are either the hoarders willing to burn ammo or those that roll their own.

Bullets were never really a problem - I had no trouble at all buying thousands.

Powder was a bit more difficult to get but not impossible and the prices were pretty much normal.

Primers - forgetaboutit!!!

When/if primers become available again at a non robbery price I'm buying enough what I think will last me the rest of my life. I was a fool for not doing it before but I didn't think November would turn out like it did.

How many guys have bought starter sets and a few sets of dies? When ammo comes back to normal supply, and components, many who bought these will be selling them a garage sales and flea markets. A lot of it will be low end for popular calibers. Just like generators, after every outage they run out and buy them. After a period of no problems they end up selling NIB.

Xtreme, way back in the day when in Nevada, outside of Carson City, and known as......... "Silver State" , not only produced bullets, but also made lead pellets for the loading of shotgun shells.

When they closed shop and move north to the new place, they stopped making shot.
