Default RCBS Headed decapping pin Large

Yesterday I was re-sizing a bunch of range pickup .308 brass and did not notice a berdan primed casing......yeah I broke the headed de-capping pin...none to be found here in Billings.

Am going a a distant memory of one of our members had the same problem and substituted a finish nail......anyone remember what nail bailed him out until he could get a correct headed pin?

Randy

I'm thinking a 4 penny finish. You might also look at the short (1") colored "Paneling" nails, they are hardened (and brittle when used on an angle.) On the 4b finish, you may need to shorten the head with a file to correctly fit in the decapping rod and get the cap back on; Trim to length, and also dress with a stone or fine file.

I keep a reserve of pins in a parts kit. I keep RCBS, Lyman, Redding (Small, Large and BR), and older Pacific/Hornady, and I have Dillon's headed pins in their press parts kit. Between all these, they usually fit just about anything ever made, including Wilson Arbor Press dies.

I lost the decapping pin in my RCBS .223 die, the old style pin. Called RCBS to order some and the guy said no problem, no charge. Sent me an entire updated decapping stem with several spare pins. Nice guy!
