Question .38 S&W BRASS

Just asking. Anyone know of any distributor marketing Winchester and or Remington brass in this caliber??? Both are still making loaded ammo but how about making the brass available?? Yes, I know about Starline and have some but just wondering about the other two. THANKS for looking.

Not an answer to the question, "Where to get Rem and Win, 38 S&W brass?", but a source I found for 38 S&W brass, was the South African Government surplused out the various old morter ignition rounds from their light infantry morter (WWII vintage). The unloaded blanks were 38 S&W cases, but had no headstamp at all! My best friend and I shared a 500 pack and I still have 100, They are every bit as good if not better than US commercial brass!

My best friend ordered them (maybe from shotgun news) but I have no idea.

Here's a crazy idea. I wonder if 9mm Makarov brass would work in moon clips in a .38 S&W revolver.

A quick look says diameter wise the Mak is a tad large but sized in a .38 S&W die would fix that. The Mak is a bit shorter. Hmmmm....

Then of course there's the fact you can convert 9mm Lugar brass to 9mm Mak. The Lugar is still a bit short of the .38 S&W but not much. But if you could convert Mak brass you could convert Lugar brass and be closer to the proper case length.

If I had a .38 S&W I'd definitely try this. The problem will be headspace/moon clip thickness but you should be able to work that out.

Of course you'd have to load it to .38 S&W pressures....I'm not advocating anything else.

A couple of years ago, there were many thousand .38 S&W unfired cases sold through government surplus sales. I was told they were used as the combustion chamber for the 40 m/m grenade rounds! I would have bought some but the minimum lot size was too intimidating.
