Winchester W572 Mid Range .41 Mag Data?
I have grown to like W572 and would like to try it in the .41 Mag.
Seems like the powder hasn't been around long enough and the combo isn't popular enough that data is available anywhere I've looked.
Hodgdon has W572 data for the .44 & .357 Magnum cartridges, but skip right over the .41.
Curious if any of you have found or developed a starting point for this powder in the .41 Mag?
Thanks, Cdog

I have used it . I found that 8.5 grs w/210-220 gr cast bullet made a nice " easy shooting everyday " carry load . It seemed about like 8.0 grs of Unique , maybe a bit stouter but not for sure . Regards Paul

Write Winchester and ask them if they have any data. Sometimes they have data that doesn't make it onto the site. It was a while ago but I got some data for a cartridge that wasn't on the site. (sorry, I don't remember which cartridge)
Give it a try, what's to loose?

I contacted Hodgdon and received a reply within two working days.
They have no W572 data for the .41 Mag. It hasn't been tested.
Oh well, I'll likely just move along for now.
Thanks for suggesting contacting Hodgdon. They were very polite and responsive!

Sorry they couldn't help you. There has to be data somewhere. IMO W572 is a good fit in magnum cartridges especially with cast bullets.

W572 can be used for a 12 Ga. , 1 1/4oz lead payload at 1330fps at 11,300 psi.
I can not find a powder that matches it in shotgun loading so far.
It has been tested in the 9mm for "Major loads" and it will work out but....
one problem is that this powder is temperature sensative and fps can change with just 30 degrees of temperature.
It will work for target to +P loads and many report it to be a clean burning powder in revolvers and pistols.
