About Where I Want To Be Reloading Wise
I went to the range last week and the .45's I took were loaded last August. I sort of try to keep a year ahead. I just checked and the last .45's I loaded were last October.
I just switched the Dillon from small primers to large and from 9mm to .45, I still have several hundred .45's left, but will start reloading again one of these days. It is now darker in the evening and getting cooler.
I just got my Hornady 366 back after it being at a friend's for the past 20 years or so. I am not sure if I want to set it up or not. I do have everything I need to start reloading 12 gauge again. However, I probably only have 1 or 2 trips left to the sporting clays site left and I have some factory shells still.
I was considering giving it away until I saw what the new ones are selling for.

A few months back I went to the range and shot some 38 and 357 rounds I loaded in 1989. They worked fine.

When I was shooting Long Range, Cowboy Action, & Sporting Clays all at the same time, I kept my components ordered at least one and more like two years ahead. So a seasonal drought meant nothing to the 8000 shotgun 6000 Cowboy and 0ne to two thousand Long range rounds of ammo. Two concessions I made were First) My standard Cowboy Action shotgun load of 7/8 at 1275fps became my standard Sporting Clays load. Second) my Wild Bunch 45 load became my standard all round 45 semi auto load, which was another few thousand rounds a year.
I wouldn't call it a concession but, my 45 ACP and my 45 Colt share the same bullets, primer type and powder type, that's just common sense!
I try and maintain 10k of W 209 primers. I have got down to 4k a couple of times.
I like 410 shot shells, a bag of shot is 800 rounds instead of 400 for 12 gauge.

You can't always get what you want... (2 times)
But, if you buy, sometimes, you just might find...?
You have what you need!
Cheers!
P.S. Just imagine being "down" 6K primers!

As I have aged, I have been asking myself two questions,
"How many rounds should I make up of my handloads?"
"Do I want to leave my son handloaded ammo?"
He doesn't shoot other folks reloaded ammo; too much risk.
Do I want him shooting mine?

A friend and I bought it used maybe 30 years ago. I probably had it for 10 years and then he and his neighbor wanted it. The neighbor built a shrine to it. He put it in an unused well lit heated garage. I think he mounted it on mahogany or some real nice wood. It was the center of the building. He had a fridge and a good stereo system in the building. He was shooting a lot and loading a lot.
Whenever I needed anything, I would drive out and we would load together or he would load it for me. Several years ago the neighbor had a serious heart attack and got out of shooting. The 366 has been stored for the past few years.
Last week I was asked if I wanted it back and I got it.

As long as you leave him the guns they were made to shoot in, why not?
We can talk more over Sunday dinner, Dad.

Most serious trap shooters only load their ammo fast enough in fps to get the job done............
for the game that they are shooting.
I load X-Lite 7/8 oz. loads for sheet and trap practice for my 12 gA. shotguns.
A 1 oz. load at 1180fps is a heavy load for me, for close range shots.
Very seldom do I reach for a box of 3 Dram 12 Ga. for any of my shooting
unless the conditions are terrible.
Shooting is suposed to be fun...............
not rattle your teeth and make your shoulder Black & Blue.
