Default 44 brass casings

What is a fair price for once fired, uncleaned brass and nickel casings. Magnum and specials from major manufacturers.
Thanks

Fair is relative, the environment now is about 70 per 200 new, so cut that in half for good once fired in both flavors...

If you have some let me know I'm interested...

Last I checked you can get new Starline 44 mag for .24 ea

So for dirty once fired I'd say around .15 ea

A quick stroll through the current listings on a major auction site tells me that factory new .44 Special and .44 Magnum brass can be had for about 40-50 cents per case in modest quantities, and used brass can be bought for 20 to 25 cents per case. Not much difference between cleaned and uncleaned for the used brass.

Many experienced reloaders will avoid nickel-plated brass if possible because it tends to be more subject to case mouth and neck splits than unplated brass. I have used both for many years, and I much prefer unplated for reloading.

The term "once fired" is frequently used, but unless you know and trust the source of the brass you have no way of knowing. Lots of brass is sold by people salvaging from shooting ranges, and the history of the brass may not be known with any certainty. If the brass has been cleaned or tumbled it can be even more difficult to tell whether or not it is really "once fired".

Component prices (including brass) are about as high right now as I have ever seen. Lots of people are looking to cash in on questionable goods. Best to be careful of your sources and rely more on your observations than the seller's description.

In better times (not the current shortages of everything) used brass tends to be a glut on the market, common calibers usually bringing less than a dime apiece. I have walked away from quite a bit of free brass just because I had all I could use and didn't want to bother with it.
