I think my primary use for 2520 was in the .22-250 cartridge, but I haven't used it in years. There's much data available. Look through some of your loading manuals.

It looked like a top performer in several of my cartridges, so when I stumbled onto some at PV, I bought the 5# limit.

I just looked through some old notes; in addition to the .22-250, I also tried 2520 in .250 Savage and .308. However, I cut way back on having many different powders on hand some time ago. H4985 replaced 2520 for my purposes for use in several cartridges. Regardless, there's nothing wrong with 2520, especially in times like these. Five pounds is enough to do a lot of experimentation.

I saw where it was used in the 5.56 with a 20" barrel and 1:8 twist.
AA2520 is a good medium powder and both loads had a OAL of 2.255".
Two berger target bullets were used.
55gr match
25.5 gr...... 2965 26.5 ........... 3130 group ave........ .74
77gr OTM
24 gr ........ 2280 25.0 ............ 2760 group ave...... .74
Faster powders for the 55gr are AA2230, H4895 and.....AR Comp.
AR Comp fills the case up very well and is great for the begining loader.
AR Comp 55gr full load at 25.1 at....... 3167 group at .20" 100 yds
AR Comp 77gr full load at 22.0c at ..... 2680 group at .35"
This data is just that....................
I do not have these powders, and can not vouch for them.
Please check you manuals , before using.

Thanks Ed.
I figured it's got to have a sweet spot somewhere. I'll find it if there is one!😀

AA2520 is the ball powder equivalent of AA2495. AA2495 was made to mimic the pressure curve produced by IMR4895 so you can use AA2520 in anything you would use 4895 in. Of course you have to use 2520 load data and not 4895 data.
Hope this helps...

I started loading .308 Win using AA 2520 in the early to mid 90's. Loaded a number of .223 using it too.
I'd of used more of it if it were something I could have picked up locally.
Varget has been easier to obtain and works well in many applications, so it pushed my 2520 usage down.
I wouldn't hesitate buying 2520 at a reasonable cost. Meters great, excellent accuracy, good load densities.

2520 in my Mk12 Mod1 gives me quarter MOA with the 77grSMK. Not the fastest but man is it an accurate combo in my gun. That's all I've used it for though but I do have 8lbs of it so maybe when I run out of SMKs I'll branch out but yes it is awesome in 5.56.
Granted I am only loading 23.9gr under that 77gr SMK for 2640fps but with that kind of accuracy I am OK with it. To clone the Mk262 I use 23.8gr of 8208xbr for 2760fps and still sub MOA.
