Default Any “pet” loads for a 625-6

I just ordered a 625-6 and expect it next week. I load for my Glock 41 and FNX Tactical. So far my favorite two loads are 5.0grs of 231 (Accurate) and 5.8grs of SR7625 (Hardball) both with 230gr ACME LRN.

Anybody have any loads that are backed up by printed data that they have found shoot well in this revolver.

5.0 of 231/200 gr. SWC is my favorite load for the 625.
I use it in both .45 acp and .45 Auto rim cases.

My 625-2 likes the 200 gr. SWC with 6.0 grains of Unique--a bit dirty but it shoots nicely.

I recently loaded up some 200s with 3.8 Bullseye for a Clark Long Heavy slide. That load shoots well and I've tried a few cylinders through the 625--not quite bunny fart level, but close.

That's what I really appreciate about the 625--if it fits the chamber, it'll shoot.

I have some of those I never could get to feed in my autos. What o.a.l. If you don’t mind sharing.
I’ll start on some tomorrow so I’m ready when I comes in.

H&G #68 (or equivalent) 200 gr. cast SWC and 5 grs. Bullseye in the ACP or Auto Rim, though I seldom shoot ACP in a revolver. In .45 ACP brass, best OAL I've found for reliable feeding has been 1.24" in an auto, but only with #68 or copies, not just any 200 grain SWC. In a revolver I seat this bullet out farther, to 1.30" using Auto Rim brass.

I started loading 45 ACP in 1984 with a 185 grain LSWC and 230 LRN, using 5.5 of WW231 for any cast bullet. Has worked well for 37 years, I don't I'll change now.

MBC's 200gr Coated RNFP (IDP #4) over 7.0gr of CFE Pistol is a pretty hard hitting load for an N-frame revolver, both in acp or AutoRim brass...

As far as it being "printed", well... It IS a revolver.

Cheers!

P.S. I (somehow?) ended up with many Speer 45acp +P nickled (small primer!) cases that work very well with this load: needless to say one should work it up 1st, but I have used it in semi-autos as well.

Encyclopedia of Bullseye Pistol

I use 6.0 grs Unique with 230 gr. fmj or lead. Have used Bullseye also with good results. 231 should be good also.

I have the 625-6 with .451 throats. When I load cast bullets same diameter I get instant leading & it seems bullets might be tipping because I don't get good holes in the paper, mostly tears. Do I need to size bullets to .450"?? Most of the time the loaded rounds won't chamber all the way.

I'd try .452 first. A little larger is better than too small. Might be time to slug your barrel. If it's larger than your throat diameter it will be hard to get good performance from that pistol unless you ream the chambers to at least as large as the bore.

What's the outside diameter of a loaded cartridge as measured with a micrometer (not caliper)? A .452" bullet should work and the diameter of a loaded cartridge should be about .470" to .472" at the neck. I taper crimp these like I do for those fired in a semi-auto, but a roll crimp will work.

I put a lot 10s of thousands of cast 230gr conical through all my 25 / 625s. they all shot well.

My 625-3 really liked 4.5 of Titegroup. It's a little less than full power and inexpensive if you are going to put thousands of rounds through it.

The 625-3 won't shoot 230 RN cast. I don't know why but they tumbled. I ended up giving the RN mold to a friend.
