Default RCBS priming tool question

I’m trying to switch shell holder on my hand held primer seater. I cannot get the shell holder to go down on the white plastic rectangular piece far enough to put it into the tool.
Seems simple enough to do but.
Maybe it has to be a RCBS shell holder. Mine is the one with the round primer tray.
I can’t say what this one is since I got it with a used set of dies

Make sure there is not a burr on the white plastic near the bottom. Lyman shell holder won’t at all in mine. Which shell holder do you need I may have as n extra.

I think it’s a #17. For .30 Carbine. Does appear to have a shoulder down near the base.
I was going to try to shave it off but was afraid I’d mess it up.

Checked and it is a RCBS #17. The base of the white nub has taper on the bottom. The shell holder doesn’t have enough of a chamfer to seat.
Dremel called up for duty.

I use RCBS shell holders of various sizes in mine with nary a problem. I'd try a few other shell holders before any mods.

Too late . I only modded the shell holder so if I’d messed it up no biggie.
Seems fine now.

No shoulder on my RCBS #17. Chamfer appears to match all other RCBS shell holders I have.

I had the exact same issue with mine. I ended up compressing the shell holder onto the small primer insert with a pair of pliers. Also, once I did get the shell holder forced into the hand primer housing, it was distorted enough to allow the primers to enter the primer pockets sideways.

The older RCBS shell holders won't work...............
It takes the newer type shell holders from RCBS.
They have a deeper chamfer than the older ones.
Maybe a call to RCBS, and they might send you the
right ones.
