Default 10mm 190 grain boolets

Found this load for 190 grain in 10mm. Sierra 190 grain FPJ. I'm going to load 190 grain Solid copper bullets. Info with bullets said use published data for loading there bullets. From 49th Ed. Lyman reloading handbook.
Power Pistol /

max load 7.8 grain 1168 fps and 28,800 C.U.P. This load was highlighted as potentially the most accurate load for this weight bullet.
My question is has anyone tried this load with decent accuracy. These bullets are close to $1 each so i really dont want to waist any. Thanks in advance for input.

I tried to look that bullet up but Sierra does not list it and I can only find
180, 185 & 200 grain bullets from my bullet sources.

Try the Lyman data or present 200 gr load data, if you can find it.

For reference I shoot 7 gr of PP in a 40 with a 175 gr cast bullet. I have no experience with anything but cast in my 10mm and use AA 9 [WC820] in my 10 mm as I have a lot of it.

I think this is the bullet the OP is talking about.

.40 190gr Handgun Solid - 50ct

If so, these bullets are quite a bit longer than normal jacketed and cast bullets of the same weight (they take up more case capacity). I'd certainly start low and work up slowly.

FWIW,

Paul

If you are changing the components in a recipe, you MUST work up the load.

You can not simply use a load at published/tested MAX for a different projectile and presume it is safe in your firearm

The is especially true if you are trading out a JHP/JSP/FMJ and switching to a total copper projectile.

MAX pressure will come at a lower powder charge with a total copper projectile in your recipe since the Total Copper Hollow points will aggressively resist deformation as the projectile travels down the bore

6-8 years ago we worked up new loads for the Total Copper Hollow points in 9MM, 357 Mag and 45 ACP

As has already been mentioned a Total Copper Hollow point will be longer than the JHP/JSP/FMJ projectile of the same weight. This may require deeper seating which will also alter the point at which this recipe reached MAX pressure

I would contact Sierra and ask them. Sometimes when a bullet manufacturer puts out a new type of bullet they do have load data for it but not always. It never hurts to ask.

Try using their contact page. (link below)

best high fps powder was Power Pistol.
