extra primers...........
Man, it is sure nice to have enough primers where you can get back to reloading and testing out new and different loads again.
I will be loading 38 spl and 9mm C9 3.5" loads to put on paper at the inside range, soon.
Ugly or not..................
they will be shown.

A month or two back I was picking a rifle up from my gunsmith. As we talked I found out he was out of shot shell primers.
He has always treated me right, I was happy to share 3000 shotshell primers with him
I enjoy hearing his stories when I do get to hang out with him

I feel really fortunate to have quite a lot of SPP and SPM but I haven't been able to find any 209 primers the last several months. And hulls?...forget that.
On the side; anyone use Bayou Bullets? A little over 2 months now and still nothing. Probably around January if I'm lucky.

I only have 600 shotgun primers left so I'm using them sparingly.
I have lent primers to a few very close reloading buddies. We try to help each other with no cash changing hands. I'm willing to wait until they can find some at what they are willing to pay and give them back. I only have 2000 SPP and 1000 LPP out and 2lbs of W231 along with 1lb of AA#5. Hey, they are my close friends.

Bayou has been my go to for High Tech coated bullets for 5 or 6 years. I've always had good service, and the quality is better than Missouri.
A few weeks ago I ordered some 240 gr. .430 SWC bullets and got them in a few days. But when I was talking with the owner we discussed how much their production and fulfilment had been impacted by the recent hurricane. I'm sure they'll be back to their usual first rate delivery and customer service pretty soon.
Best regards,

Could you explain to me what you mean by "3.5 loads"? I'm not able to make sense of it.

He's probably referring to the barrel length on his 9mm.

Picking up a 1K here, a 1K there... Keeps me busy regardless of the prices. Right now availability is increasing, and that's a good thing, IMHO.
Cheers!
P.S. Just noticed that Hodgdons lists Small Pistol Magnum Primers for their 300 Blackout loads! I imagine cci #41s should work as well...?

The man sent his wife to the lumber yard to buy some 2X6s...
"How many do you need?", asked the attendant. "24 " was the answer.
"How long do you want them?", he then asked. "Well, for a long time: we're building a deck!"

At the gun show in Billings this weekend SPPs SRPs were priced at 100-150 per 1000.Walking by a table I talked to the seller (who I
knew) and he had a 1000 SRPs for 50 bucks...so I bought them.and at the next table another fellow I knew had a nice Dillon 550B set up for 223....reasonably priced. I'm a sucker for a deal.

$50/k shakes me to the bones but $100-$150 makes me down right sick. If you really need them $50 isn't all that terrible I guess. Still... 🤕

Well...no 50 bucks ain't cheap! But seriously for the forseeable future I think it is. The dribs and drabs coming into the market place are priced stupidly high. 5 cent primers are better than 10-15 cent primers by far...and I truly think it is going to be a long wait to find primers even remotely close to the old prices. The rule of thumb of one of the vice presidents of the defunct Rem Arms Co was as follows..the old retail is going to be the new wholesale(after the previous shortages) is certainly seeming to turn out to be true. I really do believe the new retail prices on primers will be in the 40-45 dollar range after all this shortage stuff is done. Inflation may make prices even higher. But for right now the shortages will continue for a while longer. Maybe another year. At the gunshow this weekend I was astounded by the prices of shotgun(and centerfire) ammo. I sold out of 410 ammo in short order..and found the average prices per box were 10 dollars more than what I sold...and honestly I thought my prices were high!! I'm glad I only took 40 boxes.

Been swapping bricks of CCI spp to get lpp. But I would pay 50.00/brick in todays market. But with the trades and my rationing I should be good for 4 years or so.

I know that these are still hard times but.................
I really feel sorry for the guys that want to shoot their shotguns
since the move right now is for making metallic ammo for the ammo companies.
It is even worse for the person that owns a .410 or 28 Ga. !!
Since about 1 out of 75 (guess) own a "small bore" vs a 12 Ga...........
I am thinking it is going to take a while.

I feel your pain..
sorry to here you are running low in shotgun primers.
I really enjoy the "Clay games" and get nervous if my "Loaded ammo" gets below 6-7 flats of different type loads.
I'm not saying that I have done this for a while but I still have two
ammo boxs that hold 500 rounds, or 20 boxs of 12 Ga. ammo. To me, this is a case of ammo.
Hope you get lucky, so you can relax, again.

Over the last few years I bought shotshell primers at gun shows for usually a penny each from sellers who had partials of a 1000. Even bought a 1000 Alcan 220 maxfires(Fiocchi 616s) for 5 dollars. I happen to have near 30,000 around here. I was even given 4000 No 57 primers(old Rem size)so I made an adapter to shoot them in the straightline muzzle loaders...although I hardly ever shoot it.
