Lee Safety Prime Fix
I was never able to get my Lee Safety Prime to work on my Turret Press. It would drop so many primers on the floor, that I spent more time finding and picking up primers than reloading. I just gave up and primed using a RCBS Bench Primer.
The other day, quite by accident, I saw this YouTube video. I implemented his fix and ran though a box of 357 mag. Not one primer on the floor!

Never had primers on the floor using the Lee Safety Prime attached to Classic Turret Press and the press to the bench using the Lee Bench Plate Kit.
Lee 4 Die Carbide sets in the turret and Pro Auto Disk on the powder through expanding die with riser..
It takes a bit of fiddling when first setting it up but once it's in place it worked well.
Edit: link in Post #1 OK for me.

That's Strange. When I bring up the tread it shows for me.
You can find it searching YouTube for Lee Safety Prime. The title of the video is :Secret Fix For The Lee Safety Prime! No More Primers On The Floor!
Ill post the link again here :

I had a similar problem. When the little spring in my old primer setup failed, I purchased the new primer setup. I was spitting primers on the floor, having primers pressed into the cartridge sideways, and when I double checked 50 cartridges I primed, I found 5 of them installed upside down! So I had to take extra time to inspect every one I made.
I will be doing this fix as soon as I can.

I used the older style round ones for years with no problems. When I finally had to replace them I got the new triangle ones (can't get the others any more). I could never get them to work so I found some NOS and bought those. No trouble. I'd like to get the new ones to work.

Thanks!
Can hardly wait to try this! Thank you!
Similar experience with perhaps only one in twenty or so on the floor which is exasperating particularly with cost of primers and the need to search in all the hiding places they can end up. I got to using a bath towel under my feet as they didn't seem to go quite as far as when they hit my anti-fatigue mat.
I improved my success with minor adjustments and a better/different technique but am really looking forward to this fix.

Just watched the video on my tv (no sound on the computer). I have a brand new set that I haven't been using because of the primer jumping issue. Anxious to try this fix.

The first tool he was calling a "Safety Prime" is actually the Ram Prime. It's the best priming too I have ever used. I am surprised they never updated the design if it was a safety issue.
As for the Safety Prime, this is yet another case of Lee trying to do too much with plastic. The customer should not have to boil their reloading tools to make them work. I gave my Safety Prime away when I sold my Classic Turret. I found that it worked pretty well once you got the rhythm down but I still had failures every 10-20 rounds. I wish I had seen this video when I was still using it. I enjoyed using the turret press for low volume pistol rounds.

I hate videos where somebody spends 5 minutes on useless blather before giving you 30 seconds of useful information.

Thanks.
I go blank sometimes on all the aberrations and acronyms that get used on the forums.
