Has anyone worked up a load that duplicates Speer's .44 special 200 grain gold dot (850 fps)?
Thanks, Frank

Actually I am working on a load right now of 6.8 grains of Winchester 231 and Hornady's 200 grain XTP in Speer .44 Special brass. I will chrono it by the end of the week.

In my Lipsey's special, using 7.5 Unique in Win cases and with a Win LPSM primer, velocity is within 10 fps of the CCI Blazer 200 GDHP load. SD =10 and both accuracy and poi are indistinguishable from the factory round. Your results may vary;-)

Sorry about that. I hope yours arrives soon and that it is a good one. Mine was pretty much ready to go to work right out of the box. A good friend recommended the Blazer load and I was able to lay in a supply of those plus the last box of 200 gr GDHP component bullets at the local range. Next is working up a proper cast bullet load. Looks like this one will take a .431" diameter.

Power Pistol and 3N37 will get you there easily, and at less pressure than the faster powders.
What are you shooting these out of?

Back 10 years or so
I used a Bullseye 190 cast bullet
with 7.7 Unique shot one hole 15yds
from a S & W 696. Same area on the target
as the gold dots. Chron. at about 1000fps

I found a pound of VV n330 last year on clearance at the local shop and worked up a load using 8.5 grains over the Speer 200 GDHP. Accurate, clean, and consistently clocks over 875 out of my 696 night guard. I've never used the Blazer, but I've been pleased with this combo so far.
