I'd love to use speedstrips and .45 Autorim handloads in my 325PD....this will work? Or does the cylinder need to be machined, or?

They don't make speedstrips for .45 AR, so no.

The cylinder should be fine with them, though.

I think I would use AR in the cylinder, and moonclipped ACP for reloads.

However, got this from one of my mailing lists today:

“Speed Strips” in Other Calibers: While they are calling these “Quick Strips,” they appear to be the equivalent of the Bianchi Speed Strip, a compact device to carry spare ammo for revolvers. Of note, the offerings include .44/.45-caliber, which will greatly facilitate my carry of spare ammo in the Safepacker I use to carry my “woods gun.”

In addition, one could use speedloaders.

Glad to hear I'm wrong, Doug - it's about time! Might have difficulty using those with .45 AR due to their unusually thick rims.

I use the Quickstrips with my .44maggy 329PD, that's why I was wondering about the .45AR...

I'd rather have a couple of those in pocket than moon/halfmoon clips.

So, the .45AR can be loaded to pretty much equal ACP, and will work in my PD, eh?

I have speedloaders for my M21 and 25 and I can use the same one for the AR. I just don't like the speed loaders, so may have to try the strips.

However, since I carry the 22 guess I'll do what Doug M. suggets, AR and moon clips for reload.

One of the joys of my past life was telling defense weasels that they were wrong.

Oh. Wrong forum. Sorry.

I got a pair of their quick stips a couple of weeks ago and use them for 44 Special. They are functionally the same as the Bianchi speed strips but just about 30% larger.

Yaaahooooo! I just went to the Tuff site and ordered some of the 44/45 strips.

This is great! Can you tell I'm a happy boy?

I just got my Tuff Stuff 44/45 Quick Strips.

They are perfect, just like the Bianchi 38 caliber strips.

I tried them with all of these calibers and they work great: 45 AR, 44 Special, 45 Colt, 44-40.

They don't work for the 45 ACP which is no big deal but I just had to try!

Now which gun to pack tomorrow?

Thanks for the report, KSCowboy. Now that I know that they work for .45 AR, I believe I'll get some (can use them for my .41s as well, I reckon).

I think they'll work great Erich. I don't own any 41 brass or ammo so I can't test it out for you.

I'm wanting to recreate a Jovino Effector so I'm glad they'll work for the AR also.

Now to find a 25-2 to chop down.

You might want to get Mas Ayoob's Combat Handgunnery book for the photos of this technique. Basically, you insert two rounds at a time into two adjoining chambers, and then peel the strip off the rounds, letting the cartridges fall into the chamber. You repeat this two more times, close the cylinder and get back in the fight!

Here are some pics of them loaded and ready to roll. I think I'll call them A-Rods.......cause they look just like the Bianchi's on steroids.

44 Special

45 Colt

45 Auto Rim

All of 'em:

I like the looks of those 45AR's!

240gr pill at about 1100fps! Can you get that from the 45ACP? Only in a custom auto or a standard M625JM!

I just got my Tuff Strips. The 44 special rounds fit great.

The 41 Mag rounds fit looser then the 44 specials.

They come two to a package
Mixed reviews. One of my Tuff Strips hold the 41 Mag OK and it seems to be secure enought to hold the rounds for pocker carry.

The other one doesn't. However it does hold the 44 special Rds secure.
