Has anyone chronographed the same load in a 16" inch AR-type and one with a 20" barrel? Was there much, if any, difference in velocity?

I'm sure they have.

The general rule is that you lose/gain 50 fps for each reduction/addition fo barrel length with everything being the same. That is until friction takes over at some point and the long barrel is no longer the most efficient. It doesn't usually happen in standrad usable barrel lengths.
