Component that are new to me.
I am reloading for several people. The component shortages have caused us to buy Magtech Small Magnum Pistol Primers, HP38, and Ramshot TAC from Graf & Sons today. We are going to load 380 ACP, 9mm, 40 S&W, .223 with 55gr FMJBT, 308 and 30-06 with 150gr FMJBT. I currently use Bullseye in the handgun calibers, BLC-2 for .223 and 308, and IMR 4064 for 30-06. I will use Hodgdon and Ramshot load data but value the observations and opinion of forum members. Please enlighten me.
Thanks, Tim

I use HP38 in the 380, 9mm, and .40 S&W. The Hodgdon data are good, and you can rely on them.

If loaded lightly, HP38 leaves a visible residue that cleans right out; don't worry about it.

HP38 is the same as W231. I prefer it to Bullseye for any service pistol or target load in larger handgun rounds. It's cleaner, a little broader loading range w/ good accuracy using lead or jacketed bullets. Be sure to back off 0.1-0.2gr using the mag primers.

I use W231 in 380-9mm-38spl-40sw-45.
The reason I use W231 it meters better than
Bullseye. I like using a powder like W231 or
Bullseye because I use one powder for all the
calibers I load. I buy powder 8lbs at a time
and save money. Don

231/HP38 should serve you well for your pistol reloading. I used it for quite a few years but recently couldn't find any locally. I switched to Hogdon Universal...I also use it for 20 ga. so I have one less powder to try to keep stocked. Also, I used a thousand Magtech primers loading 45 acp.....they were fine. No misfires. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. (If I could find any)

Thank You for your responses. I called Hodgdon and a Tech man said to use the starting load data for 9mm and 40 S&W with the Magtech SMPPs. He did not recommend using them on 380. He said he has seen pressure change as much as 5000 with different primers. I sent an email to Ramshot for load data on TAC.

For low power smokeless handgun ammo I use HP-38. For the high power calibers I load I use H110.

240grJHP:
Ramshot has load data available for download at their website, just in case you didn't already notice.
http://www.ramshot.com/powders/
They also have their own lab onsite and may have other data developed that hasn't made it into their published information.
