Default Anyone used Berry's plated 180gr HP .40?

Like the title says. An intriguing bullet. Just wondered if anyone had loaded them.

I used them; no major problems I can recall. However, I found the poly-coated bullets more cost-effective. Try them over WST or TiteGroup.

Not the HP but the regular 180 gr RN. Shot some just yesterday.
Had excellent results.

I load the Berrys 180 RNFP over 5.2grs Universal Clays 1.125"OL. Run 940-950fps out of a M&P40 with good resultsd.

Exclamation Ohhhoooooo yeahhhhhhhh!

I have standardized on these bullets for my go to round for the 40S&W.

My powder of choice is SR4756 for my rounds. I use a maximum suggested load for a jacketed bullet and have had good success.

The reason I chose SR4756 was pressure/velocity ratio. Using the data available, I get more for less using SR4756, velocity versus pressure, than most other powders.

It hurls that bullet at almost 1000fps from my Glock 22. Less pressure in a Glock is a good thing!

I've never loaded them in .40 S&W, but they are my standard bullet for the 10mm. Excellent bullet and very good accuracy.

Hope this helps.

I use the use the 180 gr Berry's RNFP with light loads of American Select or WST at ca 750 fps. A mild and accurate load for use either in my revolvers or semi-auto's.

I have two friends who use the non-HP flat point version of that bullet in their 10mm Glocks and it is a very accuate bullet.

Do not however expect that HP to expand at all. Although the Berrys bullet is plated just like a Speer Gold Dot HP, Speer does the final punch of the HP after the bullet is plated. Berrys forms the bullets and then plates them... I have found some of their HP bullets in a sand back stop that looked like you could reload them.

None of the Berry's plated hollow point bullets are designed to expand. Gilbert Berry told me at the 2008 SHOT Show that all the plated HP bullets were made due to requests from shooters for a bullet that would work for practice, but was less expensive than jacketed hollow point bullets. They don't expand because they're not designed to, but I've found them to be very accurate.

Hope this helps.

I've loaded a thousand rounds of Berry's 180 grain HP's in my Dillon 550B. Loading is straight forward and I use 4.5 grains of Titegroup. I didn't know that they weren't designed to expand, but I can confirm that they don't.
