Cabelas backorders
I just got in the backorder line for incoming Win primers. They supposedly have WLP primers coming in on 7-25 and WSP primers arriving 7-30. No info available on how many people are in line or amount of these they will be getting. Anyone have any experience on how fast orders are being filled these days with Cabelas?

I bought bullets on 6/15 that were backordered until 6/20, on 7/12 I received an email advising they were bakcordered again until 7/20. It's now the 23rd and no word yet that they've been shipped.

Ordered primers in late April, was promised delivery in 2-3 weeks. This went on for 2 months then Cabelas cancelled the order - unable to obtain primers.

Primers and reloading gear
We have no problem getting primers here, Kansas, $30 a thousand up to $40 a thousand, I too waited on Cabelas, they couldn't get 500 9mm 115 grn JHP for my 5904, they did get 500 125 grn JHP for my 686 and Taurus 689, they had nothing on the floors to buy so I went back to the Bargain Cave, and lo and behold returned bullets marked down, bought 200 9mm FMJ and 250 41mag copper washed marked way down, guess I will start doing my shopping in the "Cave"

Emerson, they have always contacted me by email and asked if I wished to remain on the list. I have been waiting alittle over 4 months for 10K Win. small pistol primers. The ship date has moved from 6/30 to 7/30, and I don't expect them then either. Meanwhile the store has limited purchases to 2000, but continues to offer them. I got them for $29.99, and they sell for $34.99 in the store. My regular local supplier has been out every time I go to the city. I did pay a shipping and hazmat fee at Cabelas online, but I would have wasted way more driving 70 miles to see if they were in stock.

Primers
I had CCI SP primers BO'd since 4-2. I made another order of Magtech SP primers. I got 5k of each in mid July. I had 5K WSP and 5K Fed SP also on order but I cancelled them so someone else could get them.
Hard to say how they fill orders. I DID get an email on the April BO saying if I wanted to stay on the list I should call them which I did.
I think they are being yanked around by the suppliers.

Don't hold your breath, just cancelled a 2 month old order that was promised in 2 more weeks, every 2 weeks since I first placed the order.

I have had Small Rifle primers on order since May. They keep changing the arrival date, now showing mid August. I did get some Small Pistol primers after about a 6 week wait, along with some .38 SPL bullets.
Think I should buy a Flint-Lock and forget about using primers!

The last primers I was able to find was in January. I havent shot my 610 for about 4 months. I'm sitting on about 400 rounds that I won't shoot just in case I need them. This is getting old. I cycle through hobbies on a regular basis. I've been through Amateur Radio twice, 60's muscle cars, Trucks, woodworking twice, computers, and cameras. They wife won't let me try amateur Gynecology. I have been looking at bass boats for about a year. If the people making power and primers don't tool up and fill the backlog soon, I will buy the boat and be done with it. I understand they don't want to spend milions on tooling just to have the market collaps at some point. It probably will do that. I have been through the shooting sports twice now. Usually I will stay with something 5 or 6 years. This time I have been playing with this stuff for about 2 years. If I can't play, I will leave. I suspect others feal the same way. I'm dry firing these guns way too much. Enough is enough.

So true. I've been waiting since Feb. to get SP and LP primes so I can just get STARTED reloading. I thought I was doing something smart so that I can shoot my guns with some economy, but nooo. And I see it get worse when folks hoard up primers on the rare occassion they come in. People buying 5 and 10 K of primers and then brag that they have twice that much at home already. It's frustrating for sure.

Cabela's prices aren't very good, but that's OK because their shipping obviously stinks. Powder Valley shows Wolf LPs in stock. If you're out, order from them.

I just looked at Cabelas because I have a 6 week old order for WLP, the site says; BO expected in 0-1 week.
Powder Valley is accepting BOs for Win primers also.
Surely someome some where will come through.

Same for me. I got the Email they were pushed off to end of July and they would keep the backorder unless I canceled. I had been waiting three months so I called and canceled, they said " They are due at the end of the month" I said they have been due at the end of the last three months.
I like Cabela's and order a lot from them but this primer business has them overwhelmed.

Just got off the Midway website, no primers and no backorders. This is a great way for the "government" to kill the shooting sports. I'm running out of my "primer stash"! Maybe the air gun guys have the right idea.

I've been ordering from Powder Valley for years. 50,000 Wolf Primers at a crack. They took my money in March for primers I just received . . . . after raising the price. This order turned into a real cluster ****!

By the way.........Did anyone that has a backorder with Cabelas get billed for the order while waiting? I was told by my order taker that I would be billed upon shipment. I've dealt with Cabelas for 20+ years and have always found them to be straight shooters.

I've been on Cabela's backorder for lp and sp primers since April, or May. I've also received emails stating that they will be in on 7/25 and 7/30, respectively. So, far nothing at the door...
The good news; they do not charge you until you receive the goods, and they are honoring the price quoted when I made the purchase (they have gone up since that time...). Other good news; I've been able to locate primers by checking around local shops; it's hit or miss, but if you are persistent about checking around they do show up from time to time... I just got 1k sp primers yesterday. I think this primer thing is starting to come around.

I'm no expert, but here's my opinion. There are plenty of people out there (some of them are here on the forum I suspect) that buy all they can find of ammo and reloading supplies. I believe we/they think that this may be the end of future supplies. My guess is the hoarders must be running out of funds or room to keep it up much longer. We are starting to see ammo and primers on the shelves again. I ran into a fellow that was running around town buying what he could at inflated prices, only to turn around and head to the gun show to sell them for much more. My guess is when supply/demand catches up, they will have a lot of money invested in inventory that is over priced.
Did anybody buy a tanker full of last years' $5.00/gal fuel to sell when it made it up to $10.00/gal?

Called Cabelas today to see if my order was filled......NOPE!
The next ship date for backorders is now 8-29. I only hope my order is shipped before some politician decides reloading components should be the next target for taxation.

Supplies
I have been scrounging stores for old stuff still marked the old prices and haven't done too bad, I got 4 boxes of PMC 41 magnum for $29.50 a box, 2 boxes of 38 Super PMC for $11.95 and 2 boxes of JHP for $16.95 a box, found 3 boxes of 30 Luger for $10 a box, I bought 3 pounds of WAP for $15 and 3 pounds of WSL for $20, I just keep digging thru their junk and sometimes you find treasures, I am shooting cast as I found a good source in Missouri, I found some older CCI primers at a gun show for $10 a box, they work fine, I get out of the city into the country stores, they have some older stock and seem happy to get rid of the "unusual" stuff, I just keep looking and expanding my search area, never telling what you may find

Wrong
I think it's wrong for a supplier to cancel an order without asking the customer.
