I bought a few pounds of it years ago when it was only slightly excessively expensive and used it briefly as a match load in .38 Special and .45 ACP. Lately I have been trying it in my .45 Colt Redhawk with 250 gr. jacketed bullets. I use the maximum charge weight listed with .44 Magnum data. It works very well but I haven't shot it over the chrono yet.

I use it for 38 Special, 357, 45 ACP and 45 Colt. After some chrono testing and discussion here in a previous post I am going to try a slower burning powder for the larger 45 Colt case. Although, it was very accurate over a lead 200 gr SWC. I did happen to test my 357 load this week and it performed very well.

I use N320 for match loads in .38 Special (4 grs with a 158 gr SWC plated bullet) and .45 ACP (5 grs. with a 200 grs TC plated bullet). It also works very well in .44 Special (with 200 grs TC plated and SWC lead bullets), but here the brass is quite sooty, probably because of the low pressure of the load (5 grs and 5.8 grs), obviously the low fill level doesn't affect accuracy. I once had a good medium .357 magnum load ith 7 grs with an 158 grs lead bullet, but switched to N340 due to the load operating at the top of the powder load range.

Thanks, folks. I'll probably use it as a 38 special, 110 gr, 125 gr load. I use the N-350 for +p warmish 38's but shoot these in a 3" model 65.
I want to work-up the N 320 for Dick and Chief specials, model 60's and model 15's.
Since it is considered fairly fast, I reckon it will be good medicine for 2 and 3" barrels.
I also noted some application for 44 special.
I appreciate ya'll's input.

Wherever Red Dot works well in handguns, I've had good results with N320. It's about the same burning speed, which means, yes, it's a fast one. With both Red Dot and N320, I never loaded for maximum velocity - I used these powders due to their economy - and once I got a reliable-functioning load, I called it good. As with any fast-burning powder, be very slow/wary of working up to the max with it.

Have any of you fellas checked the muzzle flash in 2" .38 Spl. loads? What is it like? Speer factory 135 GDHP's give a football sized flash out of my 649-3.

3N37 max loads with the 135 GDHP give the same flash as the factory load. I'm trying to decice wheter to try N330 or N320 next. I don't mind losing a little velocity for a small flash.

N320 gives quite little flash, if you are not loading on the upper edge. This is a load of 5.8 grs behind a 200 grs plated bullet, .44 Special.
